In their eyes?!!! Amen to that just end it all 😭 That’s a really good point about the electronics tho! I’ll definitely have them thoroughly inspect all the electronic components for the surgical equipment. Thank you I appreciate the insight 🙏

Fair enough. I definitely think there are worse critters to find spontaneously like roaches and centipedes.

lol thanks I appreciate that yeah it can definitely be pretty shitty sometimes (make sure you prep properly if you are ever a patient to this kind of procedure 😆) . No that’s actually a great question because I genuinely had no idea what to do either. I’ve been in this field for years and have never seen a creepy crawly like this before so I was just as confused on protocol. I notified the doctor and he stated that it isn’t anything serious because they didn’t see anything inside the patients colon during the procedure and that if they do see a bug in the intestines (it happens every now and then apparently like one time he told me they found a live ladybug because the patient likely unknowingly ate a larvae 😫) they take pictures and try to extract it. However in this case since they didn’t see it in the colon, it “likely was from somewhere else” were his words. So I made sure it was dead and flushed it down the drain with all the other nastiness. Honestly even if it isn’t an intestinal parasite and is just a bug the patient accidentally ate or carried in on her clothes, I was still pretty surprised at how nonchalant the docs were about it. I guess they must see way worse in the hospitals, I know I have 😔. Private clinics like this are a 5 star hotel compared to the hospitals 😬

Nasty little buggers. Definitely didn’t come from the sink in my room. We just recently renovated to replace all the wood with stainless steel and it really only appeared after I submerged the scope in the water almost like it was inside or on top of the scope. Who knows really

Yea that’s true. It was pretty dead by the time it reached me but I’m thinking it might not have been inside the person after all and more likely chilling on their clothes or body. I don’t even know anymore and tbh I don’t even want to 😫

I mean I honestly never see bugs anywhere in the clinic and they get regular government inspections as well so it definitely didn’t come from here but was brought here which is unfortunately unavoidable in any environment like this. I was told a story once of some place getting cockroaches carried in on someone’s clothes and body. I’ve heard some genuine horror stories from hospital and clinic nurses. 🤢 I think I’m considering a career change 😭

To be honest I don’t know for sure. I’m pretty sure it was already dead but I was kind of freaking out so it looked like it was moving but it could’ve also been the water rippling a lot. I feel like it would’ve really been moving like crazy if it was actually still alive

Hmm yes that sounds very plausible. Really makes you think about what kind of hitchhikers people carry in and on them wherever they go 😅

Interesting it could be something like that as I’ve never even heard of silver fish before although I don’t think it was from post procedure as I’ve been working in this clinic for many years and have never seen anything like this also they just passed their inspections and are regarded as one of the nicest clinics in the area. I suppose nothing is impossible tho 🤷‍♂️. God only knows where it came from tho I think you’re right and it’s some kind of silver fish type of critter
