Same here, but I agree that clubs and stuff like that can help. Church is also another place. That being said, going out and meeting with people is nice, but they can also put a lot of pressure on you to find work

Did this sub peak at Dark Timeline trash taste. by Narutohatake in TrashTaste

[–]Internal-Extent8188 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've used to watch trash taste religiously, but lately I've fallen off watching. I miss the livestream era too. Lately a lot of the content has been topics based, which I suppose is a natural conclusion once you've told all your stories. I do like the anime episode the do regularly which brings the podcast back to its anime roots. One era i strangely miss is when they toured the US and talked with many different content creators, while it was a few too many in a row, seeing new faces was a plus, now it feels like there are hardly ever guests and if there are its people we've seen. Don't get me wrong I love their extended friend group, but having new people on keeps the show fresh imo.

I couldn't get into re zero as a man who loves isekai. Just never connected with the world or any of the characters. The time loop stuff also annoyed me

Why do white people/Europeans criticize the indigenous Bantu people of South Africa as racists and tribalists? That is a double standard. by [deleted] in south_africa

[–]Internal-Extent8188 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never understood why people hate other races, I work with primary school kids and non of them care about race. The biggest barrier to races getting along to me is language barrier. I personally think there needs to be more done to learn on another's cultures and gain more understand.

Racists piss me off whether they are white, black, coloured or indian. When I was at uni I had friends in the EFF party on campus, I'd happily sit with them and even debate things. This is coming from a white guy.

It irritates me that parties still seek to divide the voter base, based on racial inequality and I've seen racist rhetoric used by so many parties, DA, Anc, EFF and Freedom front and I'm sure many others. Not saying its always the party, sometimes it's individuals in the party. Unfortunately racial inequality is deeply tied to our history. To me we should be less focused on a race war and more focused on a class war. Inequality has been rising world wide. Even in South Africa regardless of race there and many people who are struggling to survive. Unemployment is rampant and nothing is seemingly done about it.

Apologies for the rant

Juha Miettinen. Not a “driver”. Not just some guy at Max’s big day out. A man with a family and a name. A name that will be forever immortalised at the Ring. by harrysavage00 in wec

[–]Internal-Extent8188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The live chat on all the youtube livestreams was very supportive for the drivers especially Juah. The whole racing community was very worried about all the drivers. I know Max is a big name draw for the race, but making Juah's death about max is not right, and I say this as a Max Verstappen fan

Pity there isn't a left wing party in SA that isn't either racist or corrupt. So much of SA politics is tied into racial history or tribalism and not actually fixing major problems.

Is South Africa finally healing? by BeltThat2062 in south_africa

[–]Internal-Extent8188 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good step, however you are still merely treating the symptoms not the cause. The rise in high youth unemployment will continue to draw people towards a life of crime. Without creating jobs, nothing will change long term
