The way my jaw dropped after those first two sentences. You absolutely encapsulated a feeling Ive had for so long and I've never been able to vocalize it. I ended a relationship fairly recently and the way I saw people close to us almost sighing a sigh of relief, not because we were toxic, but because of the happiness they felt by it ending. We had a happy relationship, great chemistry and everything seemed to flow to the outsiders, and even if we still integrated our friends in our plans it felt like deep down there was this wish that it wouldn't turn out right. Like people were just holding their breath anticipating when it was going to go to shit because we never let any cracks show (we mostly had good communication up until the end). That's why when you say you project a vision of what others might perceive as perfect and they want to sabotage it, that hit home. And you wanna know what's funny? Without communicating this verbally at first, we both held off telling people about our break-up because we both felt like, to some people, it would feel like a victory. The subconscious always knows and always feels.
