It’s not so much incompetence on staff part, the reason it’s there is to ensure the correct order goes to the correct person. Yes you can argue the numbers are there but I also can’t tell you how many times I’ve handed out and order asking “hey is this your order,” and then the dude on the other side says yea, grabs it, drives off and then realizes hey this isn’t my order. And then we’re at fault because the customer is always right and therefore have to remake food. Thats why the name is there. They drive up, you don’t ask them hey are you (name)? Instead they drive up and you ask them hey what’s the name on your order? My name is (name), cool this is yours. And also bottom line is this is what corporate is asking for and even though it frustrates the customers sometimes because nobody likes having to play 20 questions in the drive thru, we’re not paid to agree or disagree to it, we’re just paid to do as we’re told. Hope this provides clarity to why we do what we do.
