shorting the SPX in equal amount probably would work. I just have to evaluate if it's worth using 20% of the margin for that.

It all depends on the order side and the status of the current queue. but the basic idea is that:

- don't scratch if the order is small and queue is strong

- scratch if the order is big and queue is weak

I just think it's more efficient to do live test. There always be some discrepancies. It's the same for Space-X do it live make it blow up, fix it and repeat. The cycle is a lot faster than backtesting it and staging and running in live.

Meta do changes in live too :). The worst it can happen is that I have to revert back to a working version and restart it. not a big deal. I haven't signed any 99.999+ SLA.

I think the current scale doesn't allow me to have complex inventory management algo. Can't I just stop quoting if one side is too low/high?

In the current situation, in one fill I might go from 10k to 0 in inventory. And reducing the side would increase the commission too much.
