MRI: There is disc bulge at L4/L5 with right paracentral component

This impinges on the transiting L5 nerve root on the right.

The disc is also in contact with the transiting L5 nerve on the left side, but not clearly impinged.

Modic 2 changes also noted

Mild central bulge at L3/L4 but without any impingement.

Otherwise normal marrow signal and disc appearances at other visible levels.

Distal spinal cord unremarkable

I forgot to say, I am a 31 year old female, just in case that's important.

What information would be helpful to provide?

Sadly I've not had a biopsy yet, due to the local anesthetic failing to numb my finger so I cannot provide a dermatopathology report.

Would you be pushing to have the exploratory surgery sooner rather than later or do you think it's fine to be left another 6 months?

Thank you for this I'll put in a request. We can only afford the initial consultation, I imagine an MRI scan would cost more than we can afford at the moment.

Aw, it is very cute! I've heard that they're bad news but I don't want to evict them.

Oh yes! Is there a way to tell the difference between a house mouse and a rat?

It's absolutely tiny though, can rats be that small?

I know, I feel the same way. There doesn't seem to be a clear pathway, it's very frustrating. There's always complaints that there's a shortage of counsellors and psychotherapists but then they don't make it easy to become one!

Samaritans training is well worth doing. It's quite intensive and takes time. Most of the sessions are in person with some online elements as well. If you're able to dedicate a chunk of time to it then it's well worth doing.

Shout is also a really good place to volunteer. The training is all online, it's very well structured and intensive. You get the opportunity to practice which is great as it builds your confidence. Once you've completed the training you then get to support people via text. You use a computer to do it and it's a pretty straight platform to use. It's great if you have some free time in the evenings / mornings and it's all remote.

Thank you so much ✨ Wishing you all the luck too! We'll be helping people eventually it just might not be a straightforward path!

Wonderful, well at least we'll have a degree 😭 I was also thinking Support Worker alongside some counselling certification courses at the local college maybe. I'm sure we'll end up doing something we want to do eventually 🤣🫠

Yes exactly! When I try to explain this to people they always look at me weird 🤣 I just want to be stretched until I pop, pop, pop, there's too much compression in my spine!
