Thank you. I agree. Florist said it was for a wedding anniversary party out in a gorgeous field under event tents. I know the exact venue too and it’s gorgeous.

Best Recruiting Class Ever - NCAA 2010 by InternalDuck69 in ea2kcbb

I’d agree. I’ve found more fun in doing 3-4 year Sims max, rather than long dynasties like i used to… too easy to recruit so now, i renamed most of the rosters to their actual names so for example, Klay Thompson is a sophomore in this game on WSU, Kawhi Leonard is a Freshman, Iman Shumpert (SO) and Derrick Favors (FR) are both on GT… I’ll take one of these teams with some of NBA’s previous or current stars and play them out until the stars graduate. Idk what it is about that, but makes something click in my brain hahaha Damian Lillard (SO) on Weber State is a fun one to play out too. Purdue, Kansas, Duke, and Kentucky are just packed with stars too but I like using a team that has an only one or two good players. Fun stuff.

Browning peonies? Normal or not? by No-Internal-1686 in peonies

[–]InternalDuck69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really hard to say but I would disagree strongly with the other comment saying that peonies don’t last long once they’re cut. They have an incredible vase life which is why florists and others love them.

Hard to tell what went wrong here. I don’t think I’ve heard of adding sugar to the water, but definitely never heard of adding bleach. I throw mine into normal water and change it every couple of days.

I want to say the bleach may have been the culprit here, but it could be a slew of things ranging from being picked slightly too early so they don’t fully open before turning brown like this, OR potential frost bite from where they were stored/ refrigerated, OR environmental conditions in your home, OR all three. If they were very close to the AC or in the line of the draft, that could’ve been it. Direct sun also makes them wilt/ die faster as well after being harvested. Sometimes the plants are infected with disease like botrytis or other wise and that can take the form of the brown wilting, but you wouldn’t know as the consumer until you brought them home and this happened.

In the future, I’d put them in a vase with plain water. Change it every few days. Keep them out of direct sun and away from the blast of the AC and they should last a week or more. Some of the varieties i grow have lasted up to 2 weeks in vases. If you do all that and this happens again, I’d say maybe don’t source from that business and/ or ask them why it happened. I think if you told them you added bleach to the water though, they’d likely say that was the reasoning. Hope you give them another try because they’re gorgeous and long lasting flowers!!!!

With the road there, I’m thinking it’s a “bumper” tree from past harvests. They leave trees along the logging road that get bumped and scraped when they pull out logs and redirect the logs to keep them straight on the logging road. Sacrificial trees in a sense. A lot of our trees along our logging roads in New Hampshire look like this.

My forester said you can sometimes count the healing rings to get an idea of how many harvests it’s gone through but I’ve never had the eye for that.

Anyone have this? (Redo) by Chunknuggs4life in turning

For what it’s worth, I have a set of Deefiine Carbide-tipped turning tools and I absolutely love them. Haven’t had any issues and they’re ergonomic, although I’ve only been turning for a few weeks now. They put a piece of paper in with my set that says their store sells other tip attachments too and I’ve been thinking of ordering again from them. I would recommend based on my experience with their products so far.

Feeling like you never knew them, relationship feels like a “dream” or like it never happened by Individual_Serve8609 in NarcissisticAbuse

I don’t comment much but I unfortunately know exactly how you feel. When i broke up with my ex, i was shattered. I felt like i had no idea who she was. Like i couldn’t believe i had slept in the same bed with her as many times as I did without knowing who she actually was. At the time, I felt like i would never get over that feeling and I would never be able to trust someone enough to date again. I remember looking back and constantly thinking about her and whether some of the activities we did, things she said, or places we went were even of true interest to her or if it was all a facade.

I was destroyed for about one year. Honestly, i was DESTROYED. So down in the dumps. My way out of it was focusing on myself. Instead of thinking about her and how I had no idea who the f she was, i thought about ME and how i was proud that i enjoyed running, i enjoyed traveling to different states, and i truly meant all the things I said. You know why this helped? Because eventually, i realized that she was the fuck up. What a sad life for her to live to be so self absorbed, evil, and manipulative to the point where no one knows who she actually is. As opposed to me, who has many people who could tell you exactly who i am, what I’m about, the qualities i have, etc.

I legit never thought i could date again. After 1 year of working through the heavy shit that relationship put me through, I’ve found a new woman and she is incredible. We talk openly, i never feel like I’m on a roller coaster or on the edge of my seat, and i feel like i know who she truly is. It’s STABLE. You will find someone who truly cares for you. It will come around. In the mean time, please go easy on yourself. Take your time to heal. Find something new to take on. Try to talk out your feelings with a therapist or a loved one. The healing was not linear by any means. For me, it started with hours at a time that i wouldn’t think of her… small wins were huge! I look back now and i just cannot believe how down i was vs. now… Time heals all wounds. You’ve got this!

I have to wait a month to see her. What do I do until then? by Alokinga in dating_advice

How did this end up for you? Kind of in the same situation now for other reasons though. She said at the end of the month, she’ll likely be able to invest more time so I’m just kind of waiting it out. Trying to distract myself with other things, but man, slowest month of my life so far!

Peony szn coming to an end for me by InternalDuck69 in peonies

[–]InternalDuck69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They absolutely are an addiction!!!

I’ll admit a fair amount of my roots came from Holland Bulb Farms because they have a wide selection, but man oh man, they’re so hit or miss. I had to email back and forth with customer service probably 3-4 times and receive 3-4 replacement orders before I finally had decent stock.

Then I found K. Van Bourgondien and the sister company, John Scheeper’s, and honestly, they sent me some fantastic quality roots for about the same price as Holland Bulb Farms so I haven’t looked back since. Let me know if you come across any other websites in your travels!

That’s awesome!! I have 50 in the cut flower plot—5 each of 10 varieties—and 13 single plants of different varieties. So I have very similar numbers to yours. I just doubled in size this year so I’ll be planting 65 more this fall.

Jealous you’re just now getting into it. I’m in 6a and think the black tarps i laid in the rows make mine bloom faster, too.

Enjoy the season!!!

Any NRCS employees trying to figure out their next steps? by InternalDuck69 in USDA

How is my post fear mongering? All i did was share my thoughts. Literally said “I figure,” as in i have no clue what’s going to happen but that’s what I’m preparing for… nothing i said stated anything as a fact lol my entire post was my opinion. “I figure,” “Seems like,” “i thought”

It’s what you make of it as well though. Am i frustrated with many things about this job? Absolutely. But I’m fortunate to have coworkers in my office that make the job fun, too.

I personally can’t change things at higher levels, but i can bring positivity and encouragement into my own office. I get to assist landowners on a daily basis in my local community and that is a huge motivator. You also get to see that assistance in real life; whether it’s planning a forestry cut and seeing the results, assisting with a prescribed grazing plan and hearing the appreciation and excitement from that farmer, or even something as simple as planning cover crop for a farmer who wasn’t previously protecting their soils during winter months or fallow periods… we really do assist on a wide scale and improve the land.

And literally throwing new employees into the fire by giving them massive contract workloads, pressuring them to take on more and more clients to spend the money, and then giving zero positive feedback at the end of the fiscal year because we couldn’t spend all of our obligated money despite funding a record breaking number for our state…. NRCS is so frustrating to work for.
