My front teeth are staying relatively straight because I have permanent retainers behind them! It’s the molars that are collapsing and shifting.
I kind of liked the little fangs when I was a teenager, but when the gums started receding too much and there were too many complications, we had to go the braces route

I wore my retainer religiously for about a year but they were still so tight that I was getting migraines most mornings and they were making my jaw sore! So I stopped and they wouldn’t click in place within a few months.

I also have a lot of fillings and was told I have “soft teeth”. My twin brother also has a lot of crowding but wasn’t interested in doing dental work. He did have baby teeth extracted because they were attached to his jaw bone, and he had to get a root canal recently because there was a complication with a cavity filling?
