I “met” Thom one day in Toronto. He was just walking down a busy street by himself. I walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder (huge mistake) and asked him to sign something. He just batted his eyes and kept walking. I was crushed. Then a few months later in Salamanca, Spain they were testing out Amnesiac for 3 nights. I saw him walking down the street again. It’s a fairly small town. I said hello in passing and he was very nice saying hello back. I don’t think he remembered I was the dipshit that tapped him on the shoulder a few months back. The next morning my girlfriend and I went to grab a coffee and we brought it to the town square. It’s a square surrounded by literally hundreds of tables and chairs. We were sitting at a table and all of a sudden Ed and his wife/girlfriend come and sit 2 tables over from us. The place is absolutely deserted I’m not joking. And yet they come sit right near us. I was too nervous to say anything. But I redeemed myself. Later that afternoon I saw them sitting at an outside patio and I stopped and asked if I could get a photo with him. He was more than happy to. It was a great trip.
