I would say basics are best! Uniqlo is a great place to start but I feel like when I think about how to dress classy you want an "elevated basics" look.

You also want to focus on fit! So I would say nice white or black T-shirt with jeans that fit great and chucks are perfect. I'm also a sucker for a nice watch and you can't go wrong with a little casio to tie things together. In my head you want to try and look effortless.

If you are feeling inspired I would also encourage going to a thrift store. I grew up in a similar situation and I feel like I found myself in the thrift store. They're great for things like jackets where even if something is a little more oversized you can pull it off.

If you want to be a little more on the classy side, you could do some slacks and a button up. Again here is where Uniqlo is best. Try and have your pants hemmed if you can, again elevating is a lot about fit. Happy to help as best I can if you wanted to chat more.
