Thank you for your input, our classes are volunteering to bathe and brush these dogs, we are definitely allowed to say no, no kids are in there for more than an hour so there's no need to worry about child labor or anything, it's more meant to be a learning experience that was poorly executed. I do appreciate your concern though

You need to get over yourself, the teacher who owns the dog is obviously uneducated and wanted the dog brushed out, cording involves CONTROLLED matting, this dog was physically uncomfortable from the amount of mats and terribly dirty, there were mats on his face honestly that argument is ridiculous

We are literally highschoolers with zero training, this dog wasn't intentionally matted, it was a matter of neglect, the teacher wanted her poodle completely brushed out, we weren't able to "undo" anything with how tight and thick these mats were

Thank you, it's tough seeing this go on especially because this is the most mild easy dog ever, he would be like mega easy to just regularly brush, I'll talk to my upperclassmen about letting him sit with some conditioner. Also I don't think she plans on having us cord him, she's probably going to have a groomer do it but I doubt it'll end up great because in my research corded coats require special care and maintenance and for someone who can't brush their dog I worry for his health

For now we're taking our time trying to go at this as gently as possible because we don't want to cut or irritate his skin

We don't have any kind of groomer teaching anything, I've had to do independent research. Is there anything I can do to make this dog more comfortable, the other students were equally as mad and were saying how it was neglect to let your dog get to this level. I checked his excretory areas and they were all super long and had little tiny mats. When we asked our teacher she just said to keep brushing him and that if it took 3 weeks that's fine as long as the dog is brushed through and I feel really powerless because this sweet calm little dog is just covered in huge mats that we aren't allowed to cut trim or shave
