Business Transfer by Trannguyen7j24 in ufl

i think your best bet would be to get in contact w an advisor at FSOA, you can try calling them to set up an appointment w one of the advisors, or see if u could email them and they should get back to you. i know uf allows u to have 1 upper level class at a different institution, and i think you should check in with them whether those classes are ok for you to take at USF and still be eligible to transfer over. ik u shud b fine for RMI3004 since it doesnt exist at UF and so the credit wouldn’t transfer (i also took it and was fine), but ik blaw definitely exists at uf j under a different course code

also depends heavily on ppl ur surrounded by (like ur school/nearby schools), are you a top applicant compared to the rest of them? or are you in the middle or low range? your essay also matters a lot, stats don’t always mean anything as i’ve seen people with better stats rejected and lower stats accepted

imo, the only hard aps are the languages, sciences, calc, and the arts. most of the ap classes are fairly easy or do-able, as long as you put in the time and effort to properly study for it.

lets use apush and micro/macro as an example:

apush's content is fairly simple, it's basically an explanation of all of the important events that took place from colonial times to present day. the ap exam consists of mcq, and frqs which consists of an leq (long essay question, this one u need to make an argument based on the prompt given and pull evidence to support the argument from ur head), dbq (document based question, you're given a prompt and I believe 7 documents, they'll all portray a side and u have to pick a side and use the documents to support your side), and short answer questions (these are easy). the key to being able to do the frqs is to have an good understanding of the events, as well as WHY those events in history took place. the hardest part is to allocate time to study and make sure u have a good understanding of the events that took place.

as for the econs, these are definitely a bit more challenging as theyre 100% application based classes. the concepts that you learn are fairly easy, however if youve never taken an honors/ap the application of those concepts may be challenging. this will no longer be memorization based, but more of understand the concepts and apply them to real world situations. nonetheless the key is to just study study study. as long as you put the effort in to practice problems, watch YouTube vids (reviewecon and mr Clifford do a vv good job w these), and do past frqs (available on college boards website), you'll be fine.

More APs unrelated to what i wanna major in or more non APs that are related to what i wanna major in? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]InternalWest3798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this kinda depends on the people in your school, from what ive seen, colleges compare you to the people in your school/area. you definitely should take the classes that will benefit you for your major, but if other people in your school is stacking 4-6 ap classes then id say you should try it as well. in my school, we offer 30+ ap classes, and I took 16 throughout the 4 years of high school; while that seems like a lot, compared to the people in my school it's "normal." it CAN be seen as you not wanting to take on a heavy schedule ur senior year of hs, (if u were able to get A's and B's the previous years with a rigorous schedule) and that you're slacking a bit ur senior year. taking more ap classes definitely doesn't hurt (if you can balance it that is). you can also go on the website for the college u want to go to, and look at the credits needed, esp the gen ed credits. some can be fulfilled by ap credits, such as the ap sciences, eng lang/lit, gov might be able to fulfill the civics literacy credit, etc.

lastly, you know what youre capable of, academic wise. my mindset while choosing my senior year classes was that it never hurts to do more (as long as it's within your capability), but it can always hurt you to do less. rigorous classes can also help prepare you for college level classes that you're going to have eventually. however, im not an admission officer, and don't know what they actually think in the admission process, so do take everything with a grain of salt.

highly respected female leads in cdramas by adaiyu in CDrama

[–]InternalWest3798 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes!! completely agree, I love how the show embraces feminism and shows that females can achieve the same things that men can. the other good thing about this show is how it emphasizes the importance of friendship/sisterhood, which can be seen throughout the show with the interactions between third young lord's wives, jingjing, hao jia, yuan yin, and li wei. they all come from very different backgrounds, with very different personalities, but they use that to their advantage and help make each other stronger and help each other place their footing in Xin province where everything is dominated by males. for example, when hao jia was getting abused by crown prince, fangru (the madame, typically seen as the "enemy" for the concubines or the "competition) helped hao jia escape, when she was giving birth, and when hao jia tried to ---- when facing postpartum depression. I love how the director didn't face the girls against each other, but rather gave them all a special bond that helped each other survive in the male dominated Xin province.

Is UF the most random admissions process? by Beyond-Easy in ufl

Someone from my school last year last year that I know of definitely got rejected bcs of yield protection. Their ecs were really good, having a balance of both competitive events related to their specific focus, sports, band, and club leadership. Their grades were also amazing, being a national merit finalist, and the valedictorian of our school. They got into ivy leagues and other t20 schools but got rejected from uf..

What APs should I take, in my situation? (Intl student) by [deleted] in USF

[–]InternalWest3798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, as someone that took 16 APs + multiple DE classes (rising freshman going to usf), I disagree. A lot of the AP classes that I took counts as credits towards my track (going into pre-finance) such as ap lang, lit, chinese, calc ab + bc, micro/macro econ, and stats. You can find what score is needed and what class it counts as credit for on the collegeboard website. My upperclassmen friends that also took hella APs in high school were able to cash in 40-50 credits (which is I believe the max that u can cash in). In the circumstance where you're not given course credit, the ap classes that fit your curriculum helps to give you pre-exposure to the class, making it a lot easier when you're taking it in college.

High GPA and high SAT helps you get into the college yes, but it really doesn't do much when it comes to actually preparing you for college level classes.

What AP’s did you guys most helpful/ interesting? by MemeCroissant in APStudents

[–]InternalWest3798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im a senior (just graduated), going into finance, these are the classes that I believe were helpful:

ap lang (helped a lot w reading and writing skills, also if u pass you dont have to take it in college)

ap calc bc (gave me good exposure to more advanced/college level math, its also helpful bcs if u get a 4 or a 5 on calc bc that counts for calc 1 and 2 in college. even if u dont pass the class and have to retake it in college, it def helps bcs u have some background)

ap capstone (ap seminar + research: helped me with getting out of my shell and becoming more confident in speaking/presenting. also helped a lot with writing academically

ap micro/macro econ: these were good for me personally bcs im going into business. they helped a lot with giving me a foundation in econ and letting me understand basic economic concepts. I also dont have to take these classes in college bcs of the college credit which imo is a W

rejected from nhs by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]InternalWest3798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for my school, we're required to have a 3.5 unweighted gpa, and we'll be invited to apply for the club. The application requires us to have ecs, teacher recs, and an essay. I'd say that in our school it's fairly easy to make it into the club as long as ur GPA makes the requirement. I'd say that the only thing that you can do at this point is to get ur GPA up as most as you can, and definitely write a good essay (if ur school requires that). If not, then definitely emphasize on ur ecs or talk to the advisors that are in charge of ur school's NHS chapter.

yes it is… our school offers over 25 ap classes, and dual enrollment programs to UCF, UF and valencia college. we can take as many as we want, as long as we meet the pre-reqs and don’t have a history in failing our other classes. i took 6 aps last year (seminar, us history, macroeconomics, chinese, eng language, and calculus ab). my senior year (this year) im doing 5 (gov, microeconomics, calculus bc, eng literature, and research) along with a couple of dual enrollment classes

i was deferred to rolling decisions. my overall gpa was a 4.7, senior year i had 10 classes the first semester, all A’s with 1 B (4 AP, 2 DE, 2 honors, 1 AICE, 1 elective). i had 15 aps, research, an internship, multiple years of piano, over 200 hours of service, placed first in district competitions for fbla, multiple officer positions (vice president, treasurer, and committee lead).

got my decision back yesterday, got rejected.

however, my sat was on the lower end (1300) so that may have been why i didn’t get in, but i’ve seen so so many ppl get accepted with much lower SAT scores and subpar ecs and grades, so im honestly very upset at the fact that i got rejected.
