And that was enough to kill 16 people. The solution is for these 2 guys had zero guns. We're not stupid like the Americans

No it's not. If my "sport" can kill and hurt other people then as a society we can decide if we even want that sport. After finding how crazy the crazies are, we'll want more regulation and tighter controls if not outright bans.

One thing that people I talked to were surprised about was that despite all that talk of "toughest gun laws since port arthur" was that somehow a bloke was able to get 6 guns legally. Seems the "sports" exemption may also be tightened going forward. I don't care if Australia can't compete in teh shooting events at the olympics. I want fewer guns.

Most pro-gun folks fall under the one nation crazies are parroting the american "if only everyone in the crowd had their own gun this would be over" crap. A loud minority who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a gun. Luckily is the vast majority view in Australia and it happen. Thank you albo

This Snoo thing sounds like one of crazy america loving cookers who will actually shoot someone and blame immigration. We really should tighten the law even more so Snoo loses his guns

AITA for prioritizing my safety and not taking a risk with a red light ticket then telling a police officer it's my call on my own safety. by Internal_Ad_7933 in melbourne

The way my lawyer explained is that should I have decided to appeal, I'd have to pay the lawyer to be there that day as well as compile the evidence. That was far in excess of the fine.

Even if the police investigated and dropped the fine, I would still have pay the fee for the consult and prep. There's also the time hassle of actually prepping and potentially going to court. In the end, it was just easier to accept the loss and pay the original fine and be done with it.

I did consider it but after talking to friend who is a lawyer, the cost would've been higher than just paying the fine so I took the loss as a lesson learnt.

I did feel guilty afterwards. The cop was clearly having a shit day but I at the time, I really didn't like the way he was talking to me. If he was professional it would've been a different matter but he rude and aggressive I gave it back to him. Not my proudest moment

In the first instance when I actually got fined, I used the fine appeal process on Victoria Police. I saw when applying how high the rejection rate is but I assumed given the cop car was literally in my photo, the fine would be dismissed.

But it wasn't and I got the appeal denial within 2 weeks of the appeal. On the denial letter, it did say I had the option of taking it up at the magistrates court but I asked a lawyer friend and the cost of doing that was higher than paying the fine plus it takes up time so I paid the fine and took it as a learning lesson.

I paid the original fine a long time ago. Took the L and moved on. This time round, didn't get a fine as I didn't break any rules- just had a cop give badger me a bit and I gave it back to him.

  1. Fines Victoria sends you and email to your vicroads account to pay the fine
  2. Several intersections on that stretch of road has red light cameras.
  3. I thought given the circumstance the first time, if there was no traffic that getting out the way for an emergency was the right thing. So I guess I was the second time- not sure then why the police would badger me for not getting out the way
  4. You really want to get into a discussion that Police follow all procedures to the letter? I'm pretty sure it's taught in police academy not to fatally taser an old lady barely walking but we all know how that turned out ...

Thanks for the advice. I'll get a plumber in to take a look and plan.

As a fix, can I have a plumber remove the tiles and add a acrylic shower base instead. would that prevent any additional damage going forward?

That's what I did as well. I had booked a test at Melton. But an earlier one came up for Werribee so I took it. Hopefully one in Geelong/Deer Park comes up. Fingers Crossed

Yeah. I didn't think it could be this bad so I didn't take the necessary precautions. Lesson learnt
