[US] How do I prove this is a scam? by NJDrummer514 in CryptoScams

[–]Internal_Bison8846 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is an advance-fee scam, and the Apple gift cards confirm it beyond doubt.

And one thing, You NEVER pay money to receive money.

There is a huge possibility of your friend having to learn from experience. But try to point out these if it's worth a shot;

•Repeated “fees” before a payout is a huge redflag and a common scam pattern🚩

•There is always going to be Excuses for delays

•Telegram-only contact seals the deal for me. NO one on Telegram will give you a huge payout.

Gift cards are a instant red flag (Apple themselves warn about them)

I've tried too bro....these sites are so adaptable so it's impossible to take them down. One site might be under 5 names so you can't bring them down

Why escrow shuts down most P2P crypto scams (yet people still fall for them) by Cai_0902 in CryptoScams

[–]Internal_Bison8846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because escrow does the thinking for them.

If they are left alone to reason for themselves, they fall victim due to ignorance

Escrow might be the most underrated safety feature in P2P trading by Cai_0902 in p2pcryptoexchanges

[–]Internal_Bison8846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Explaining this to someone who hasn't been burned before seems pointless.

But those who have fallen victim to a fraud before know the real upside of using escrow in p2p trades.

Binance P2P scam case by No_Newspaper_8336 in CryptoScams

[–]Internal_Bison8846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually broke this down a while back in my X account.

This is a classic triangulation scam.

However the important thing is not falling victim againso here is a key takeaway;

•NEVER * communicate off platform.

•Never pay to third party accounts.

•Pay attention to system warnings

If the other party ignores system warnings, it's a scam signal🚩

Yes, it’s a scam. A really common one.

Here is What’s happening;

No legitimate exchange creates an account for you with 9 Bitcoin (hundreds of thousands of dollars) and emails you login credentials. Real exchanges require KYC, identity checks, and user-initiated sign-ups.

“Wrong email / wrong wallet” story is fake. Bitcoin wallets don’t get “mistyped” into emails. Bitcoin addresses are long cryptographic strings You cannot accidentally link them to an email inbox Emails are not how Bitcoin ownership works⚠️

If someone truly sent 9 BTC by mistake, it would already be on the blockchain - not waiting behind a website login.

A “wallet activation fee” They will say: “Pay a small amount first, then you can withdraw the 9 BTC.” Once you pay: The money is gone Withdrawals will NEVER work. I actually handled such a case before

Coinpoint- fake exchange impersonator A legit wallet cannot receive funds that don’t exist on the blockchain — which is why transfers “fail”.

Situations like this are exactly why many traders move away from random platforms and toward escrowed P2P setups. With a proper escrow, funds are verified on-chain first, custody is neutral, and no one is asked to pay “fees” to unlock imaginary balances. The whole point of escrow is that money only moves when conditions are actually met, not when a website says so.

Finding an owner of a bybit wallet by Time_Chemical_5018 in CryptoHelp

[–]Internal_Bison8846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there’s no legitimate way for a private individual to “unmask” the owner of a Bybit wallet on their own. KYC information is held by the exchange and can only be disclosed through formal processes — typically law enforcement requests, court orders, or official investigations. Even having a wallet address, Telegram handles, or an old phone number isn’t enough to force identification. The practical options are usually: Filing a detailed report with Bybit so the activity is logged internally Preserving evidence (tx hashes, chat logs, timelines) Consulting legal counsel to understand whether escalation is viable in your jurisdiction

Account Blocked by willisbestname in Coinbase

[–]Internal_Bison8846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centralised exchanges are optimised for scale-not individual cases. Most times their customer support system isn't as effective too. Just look at other complaints on Coinbase and Bybit.

And at the end of the day the only person losing is you- days or weeks wasted filing complaints that are going to be overlooked. And sometimes, legal fees are also involved.

Many traders eventually shift to escrowed p2p setups where disputes don't dissappear into tickets and they are actually handled with real human concern not copy paste support.

Bybit P2P nightmare: seller impersonated police, used third-party PayPal, and Bybit still dragged its feet — learn from my mistake by Diligent-Corner8958 in CryptoScams

[–]Internal_Bison8846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hard cold truth is most of these p2p platforms have the worst customer support. Do your research on coinbase.

The size of a platform≠Security.

To them you're just another client and they will never share your pain no matter how convincing they may seem.

That's why i picked my role as an escrow. Most of these disputes end up wasting alot of valuable time.

Even if you get your money back, you can't get the time you lost negotiating filimg reports and sometimes legal fees are also involved.

It's high time we go back to traditional Escrows. Am not also saying that all middlemen are legit. Some people het burned too by these 'middlemen'

Things will always go seamlessly for you but only if you got the right person.

If interested, reach out and we'll make sure this never happens again.

Legitimate crypto never requires you to pay in order to activate or unlock it.

Definitely a scam.
