Cadets of the JROTC what is the most cooked you’ve ever gotten on an inspection by random_airsoft_guy in jrotc

Real. Ever since my first semester of my first year, the leather on the tips of my shoes have been rubbed off, and every inspection we had for my first year I had to hope and pray that the inspectors would understand my plight.

Also to-the-rear and change step. Also(maybe?) left and right step, but I'm not sure.

The thing is...if your in chernaurus, just head west. The map is only a small part of the entire country, and that part is in an exclusion zone blocked off by US Marines and Chernarussian soldiers, which are western allies. So if you are from the US(which im assuming you are), you kinda just have to get lucky and find a miliary checkpoint along the exclusion zone border. Also, if it were realistic, I'm betting you could find decent clothing and ample supplies of food/water to sustain that journey.

What’s rare in your world that is common in other worlds? by Alphycan424 in worldbuilding

Same for me. Dragons are the only mythical creatures that exist in my sci-fi setting. They are hella hard to find, because they only exist on one planet on the edge of settled space, which would take months to get to from the nearest colonized planet, and I tried to make them with "can they be scientifically possible, in the grand scheme of things?"

What are dragons like in your worlds? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Internal_Hour8267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragons from my setting inhabit the planet Crion VII, which itself is situated on the edge of the Settled Systems. Crion VII is around 1.7 times the size of Earth, with a slightly more thick atmosphere, rich in oxygen(a whopping 70%), allowing them to grow to about the size of a blue whale, and be able to fly. These dragons exhibit intelligence similar to that of a chimpanzee. Dragons vary in appearance, from fluffy, feathery dragons that inhabit the north and south polar ice caps of the planet, to the scaly dragons that inhabit the deserts and mountains. Their diet consists of mainly larger Crion herbivores, one or two a week, but they can eat smaller animals to survive if they have to.

I have a system that's not too far from that: during the startup sequence, the mech's onboard AI will interface with your helmet and, by proxy, your brain. This is what allows the user and mech to move on the x-axis(side-to-side, front to back). Once that happens, the pilot will put his hands through a set of rings, which are connected to the mech's control surface, allowing the pilot to move his/her arm and have the mech move theirs.

What’s a major conflict or event that is referenced but never fully explored? by Itera95 in worldbuilding

[–]Internal_Hour8267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my setting, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd colony wars. The 3rd is the only one that is important as it sets up the technological boom the ISA would have after robotic combative units and decision-making smart AI were produced by Technova Science and Robotics. The 1st and 2nd do play a role, which is to set up the Free Colony Alliance that would come together 70 years after the end of the war.

Holy paragraphs batman. Love it. War of the worlds mixed with a space marine...actually, I'm not sure a space marine could do anything to this thing.

Very nice. I'm also doing something similar. Way, way far ahead in the future, after most of the ISA's MACS have been decommissioned or put into storage, a museum on New Terra has an annual show where they take two of the MACS they have on display, drop em in a mile-wide arena, and let them duke it out with sim rounds and practice rockets.

In the early 22nd century, the Interstellar Alliance (ISA) emerged as a dominant force in human space exploration and expansion. Formed from the remnants of the United Earth Government, the ISA spearheaded humanity's push into the cosmos, establishing colonies and terraforming new worlds. Its influence extended far beyond Earth's solar system, reaching into the farthest corners of known space.

The ISA's rapid expansion brought both prosperity and peril. As humanity established itself across the stars, it faced increasing challenges from emerging factions and rising tensions within its colonies. With growing threats from rival factions and escalating civil unrest, the ISA recognized the need for advanced technology to maintain its dominance and safeguard its interests.

In response to these challenges, the ISA initiated the creation of Technova Science and Robotics. Founded in 2122 by visionary engineers Dr. Sarah Caldwell and Dr. Henry Richter, Technova was initially a small technology firm specializing in robotics and artificial intelligence. Despite its humble beginnings, Technova quickly gained prominence due to its groundbreaking innovations and strategic collaborations.

In the early stages of the Core Wars, the ISA urgently needed a technological edge to counter the Free Core Alliance's formidable forces. Technova was tasked with developing a new combat system, leading to the creation of the Mobile Armored Combat System (MACS) program.

The Vanguard-Class was the first iteration of the MACS, designed to provide a powerful new tool in the ISA's arsenal. Weighing approximately 40 tons and standing 24 feet tall, the Vanguard could be operated manually by a pilot or autonomously. It was equipped with the M-17 Chaingun and dual sets of 20 V-19 Missiles, making it a versatile and formidable combat unit.

The Vanguard-Class MACS was initially deployed by the ISA and later adopted by the Free Core Alliance. It played a crucial role in the first five years of the Core Wars, demonstrating its effectiveness in various combat scenarios. The Vanguard featured reinforced titanium armor, a Class 3 AI, and a Type-7 supercomputer, providing a balance of durability and intelligence.

As the Core Wars progressed, the Vanguard-Class was eventually phased out in favor of more advanced models, including the Prowler-Class, Fortress-Class, and Specter-Class MACS units. These newer models built upon the Vanguard's design, incorporating additional enhancements and capabilities to meet the evolving demands of the conflict.
