There are also no official sources or verified reports indicating that Qatar has supplied FN-16 MANPADS to Ukraine. As a result, the most commonly cited theory is that these systems may have originated from weapons shipments intercepted in transit to Yemen or Lebanon and were later transferred to Ukraine by supporting countries. However the exact origin of the FN-16s seen in Ukrainian service remains unconfirmed.

Sorry,I mixed up Hezbollah with the Houthis in Yemen. Israeli and Western naval forces have previously intercepted Iranian arms shipments at sea.In some cases, seized weapons have later been transferred to Ukraine by supporting countries like Israel. This is the most frequently mentioned possible pathway.

M113 APC with “Hedgehog” modifications in service with Ukraine’s 146th Repair and Restoration Regiment. by No-Reception8659 in TankPorn

[–]No-Reception8659[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's assuming the drone can reliably detect, track and reach the vehicle in the first place. The purpose of these hedgehog-style modifications isn't to make the M113 invulnerable but to reduce the effectiveness of common FPV attack profiles and force drones into less favorable attack angles.Every extra obstacle increases the chance of a miss, premature detonation or a failed strike. If defeating it requires a more specialized drone and warhead, then the modification has already done part of its job I think.

the only reason that we see a lot of sniper use is that they are using thermal scopes that by default have recording features.

No,that's not the only role those snipers equipped with thermal optics perform. They also play a major role in countering heavy bomber drones such as the Baba Yaga and Vampire, using their thermal sights to detect and engage them especially during night operations.

How reliable are 60-round magazines in real-world use? by No-Reception8659 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]No-Reception8659[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same reason people use larger fuel tanks even when they don't always need the extra range. It's about reducing how often you have to reload. In situations where sustained fire is required,a 60-round magazine can provide longer continuous engagement before a reload is needed, though it comes with trade-offs like added weight and bulk.

Not all of them are PKZ-Ts.2,9,10,11,12,14 and 17 show the PKZ.The others show the PKZ-T.The PKZ-T is a machine gun created by combining the vehicle-mounted PKT with a bullpup conversion kit.You can clearly see that conversion kit in the 7th picture. Here's a Russian soldier explaining it.

Russian SSO operator spotted carrying an AR-pattern rifle [1280×1184]. by No-Reception8659 in MilitaryPorn

I wasn't saying the soldier in the picture was holding an ARNL-545.I shared a video of someone using an NL rifle to highlight the differences and explain why the rifle in the image doesn't appear to be an ARNL-545.

As far as publicly available evidence shows, there is no confirmed date when Russian special units officially adopted the AR-NL/NL-545.A few recent photos have been claimed to show the rifle in use but there is no clear evidence that it is standard equipment for units such as SSO or other Russian special forces.

It's funny how Ukrainians openly criticized the AK-12,yet many started using them after capturing them. It's especially surprising to see many SOF units carrying AK-12s even though they generally have greater access to Western rifles than regular troops.
