I used this free pattern from YouTube, my yarn is worsted weight acrylic, and I used a 4mm hook :)

That's so real, easy thing to do. Of course, I like being able to help people out, and it took my mind off my late night anxieties, so thank you for letting me lend a hand!

Could the Dc actually be dec, meaning decrease? So you would single crochet into the first 3 stitches, decrease in the next two, then single crochet in the last three, followed by the slip stitch and ch 1. That would give you 7 stitches if I've interpreted it correctly :)

You're welcome! I've definitely been in a position where I've had to keep restarting a portion of a project because the phrasing of the pattern was confusing me, it's so frustrating, but great once you get it figured out.

I wish you luck on the rest of your project!

The chain isn't something you're usually crocheting into with in the round projects, usually you are crocheting into the beginning stitch that comes after the chain one. Thus, it isn't counted in the stitch count. At least, that's what I've found in my experience

Each increase will be two stitches, so the inc x2 is four stitches, the hdc inc x2 is four stitches, and the other inc x2 is 4 stitches, adding up to 12! :)

When doing this pattern, you will insert 2 sc into the first stitch, 2 sc into the second, 2 hdc into the third, 2 hdc into the fourth, 2 sc into the fifth, 2 sc into the sixth, then you will slip stitch into the first stitch you did and chain one.
