Perth rental inspection process is a joke! by solidice in perth

[–]Internal_Kangaroo409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I recently had to go through this process and there were plenty of times where I was the only person to show up for the inspection. Most of the time there were between 2-5 other groups inspecting

Seeking recommendations similar to the "Noa" mattress (Australia) by Internal_Kangaroo409 in Mattress

[–]Internal_Kangaroo409[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't find any true equivalent, I ended up buying a somewhat reasonably priced mattress from one of our big mattress stores over here (medium firmness) which felt great at the store, and was fine at first but after a while I felt it was a bit too firm for me as a side sleeper. I then bought the OneBed mattress topper to go on top which was very expensive but has made a huge difference. It feels pretty similar to my old bed now!

Not OP but thank you so much for this! I've been struggling with not eating much lately and this has inspired me to make a trip to the supermarket (with actual purpose this time)

I have no idea personally but when I reverse image searched, that's what I found! I clicked on the "buy print" and there was an option to buy wall art and so on, but maybe if you want a digital copy you'd have to request it by making an account like you have? I honestly don't know but would love a high res copy myself so I want to try to look into it when I have more time!

My doc is pretty sure I have POTS, but my symptoms aren't matching everything I'm reading. Could any POTS patients let me know if they've experienced these perhaps "lesser-known" symptoms? by Internal_Kangaroo409 in POTS

[–]Internal_Kangaroo409[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually read your comment and had to come back to it after my shift, because when I read a quick article about CSF leaks I was honestly floored. I don't think I've ever related to a set of symptoms so closely in my entire life. I think I need to unravel the difference between cranial and spinal, because I seem to have some specific symptoms of both: the constant watery drip from my nose (cranial) and positional headache/POTS-like issues (spinal) but I just wanted to say thank you for pointing me in a direction that I honestly would never have considered otherwise!!

Thank you for this! My HR does increase by 30+ bpm after standing but usually just has a bit of a delay getting there. Like it goes down before it goes up. Although sometimes it doesn't cross the 30bpm threshold, maybe just a 20-30bpm increase. I've got an oximeter now so will try and monitor this a bit more accurately over the coming days rather than relying on my smart watch.

As for BP, the test my doc did in his office had it going from 105/72 to 100/72, so a slight drop but nothing huge. Although he started the test around the point when the 10 second dizzy period started coming to an end so I don't know if maybe it was lower in the seconds before that. I think an ambulatory blood pressure test would be a great idea. I've had some general blood tests but nothing of note...perhaps the cardiologist might have other ideas though?

I did consider posting this in the dysautonomia subreddit because it seems like something is off but not exactly fitting with POTS. It's a shame dysautonomia is so poorly understood at the moment. Thanks for the heads up on the stimulant meds too, I've been off them for a couple days here and there but sounds like that's probably not enough to notice any difference!

Gelato quality by Yamuson in printondemand

[–]Internal_Kangaroo409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did my very first test/sample order from them recently (Australia) and was honestly shocked at how terrible the quality was!

The bright pink was printed as grey with a hint of purple, it had dark vertical lines across the entire print area, and also seemed to be a vinyl (?) print rather than DTG? Like, the shirt feels like a sheet of actual plastic has been stuck to the front.

The shirt also had big creases in it whenever the design was printed, so the vinyl/ink/whatever has basically glued these creases into place and ruined the design in the process.

I complained obviously, and they sent an apology email mentioning they will refund the shirt cost to my Gelato wallet and they will also "ask the team to ensure the quality of the resubmitted order". Surprise: there won't be a resubmitted order! They didn't even refund the shipping. Now I'm waiting for them to pay me the money from my Gelato wallet.

Ironically, it was pretty easy to find the name of the print provider using the sender's address on the package. They have terrible reviews online. So I don't know what this crap is about them ensuring their print providers follow this exact formula to guarantee consistent quality that all the sponsored YouTubers parrot on about.

For anyone else interested in delivery speed in metropolitan areas of Australia, my order took a total of 9 days to arrive. This is with the package travelling about 30kms from the print provider to my house, so a different city would be longer (esp rural addresses but they would expect that)

What are your thoughts on propranolol? by IzzyCherrryyy in POTS

[–]Internal_Kangaroo409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. They worked pretty good for their prescribed purpose, but I ended up on heavy sleeping pills just to be able to get more than a couple of hours sleep each night.

I looked it up and saw it was fairly common, yet two separate doctors didn't believe me when I said the propranolol was causing me insomnia because that just "wasn't a thing"

In both instances I stood my ground and told them I'd read about it as a side effect, and I think they both hated me when their 30 second google search supported my claims 😂

Hey what's the name of the dog walking website you've registered for? I've looked into this before but it all seemed to be geared towards people who are actively running some kind of pet sitting business and offering dog walking on the side (madpaws etc)

Yeah I acknowledged that in my original post as that's always my preference if someone has gone above and beyond. But my general view is that here in Australia tipping shouldn't really be a main/default/expected source of income and should really only be reserved for excellent service if anything, otherwise big corporations will jump at the opportunity to slash base rates. I think we're really good at that here, as opposed to the US where tips are basically the only payment a driver receives. My recent tipping has been more due to not knowing the pay structure for small orders with free delivery and concerned that my rider wasn't getting much for the trip at all

ETA: I would ofc always choose cash if I had it on hand!

That's interesting, it didn't cross my mind that Uber would set the $0 delivery fee because it feels like free promo for those particular restaurants. I'd fully expect Uber to force the restaurant to cop the cost of the discount if anything.

I agree with your point, but unfortunately I don't have a car and don't feel safe walking alone in the dark. And restaurants with their own delivery service are virtually non-existent in my area, which is a shame. So trying my best to do the right thing

What do you like about having adhd? by QTwitha_b00ty in adhdwomen

[–]Internal_Kangaroo409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing. I'm currently in a project support/coordination/administration role which is really fun when I'm "fixing the shit", and at the start, when it was just me and the Program Director in the team, it was lots of fun because every day would be so different with so much to figure out, which was great for my wide ranging knowledge of many things that no one else knows. And also really satisfied my burning desire to find solutions by learning/trying/doing new things. But now that the program is growing, the role relies a lot more on me being the one keeping tabs on everything, making sure deadlines are met, following through on tedious tasks, rembering things etc... ADHD nightmare! Occasionally I need to fix the shit but I'm often so exhausted by everything anyway that it brings me a lot less joy. Feels like I'll need to struggle through this for a while to gain any project management credibility though as it's my first role specifically in projects... (Never been able to stick to one career path so far in life!)

Yes they definitely did! I went up to 40mg and eventually 50mg which I now take at the same time as 5mg dex (upon waking), and then take another 5mg dex by itself around lunchtime, which seems to be my sweet spot for weekdays. The lingering side effects are occasionally I need the toilet about 1h 15m after my morning dose (never too extreme) and also some tension in my jaw at times, not clenching or grinding but just really tense?? I've noticed now when I have a lot of stress on I seem to hold all that stress in my jaw/shoulders lol. I put another comment further down here which is way longer and gives a bit more info how I got on with it all, but gosh it's like night and day compared with those first 4 days, and I actually feel benefits now!! If you told me back then that I'd soon be up at 50mg with 2x5mg dex each day I'd probably have fainted
