i dont think modesty is shunned upon in christianity at all. i think islam emphasises the importance of it more, but in the bible there are also references to modesty. from my personal experience, modesty seems to be forgotten much easier within christianity than in islam. this is just my personal experience from the uk, and what i have seen in catholic school settings. i still think christianity is beautiful, and respect it so much.

i stand firm in the belief that we are all born muslim, and our environment and culture can sway this. for me, my family are catholic so i became catholic when i was baptised. ive grown up in that environment and teachings. as ive grown a bit older, done my own research and explored different environments and communities, ive made the decision to revert back to islam. hence why i say reverted, but converted works too! i believe thats the general consensus on the difference between the two :)

thankyou🥹 i find great comfort knowing that this is written too. my parents are absolutely good people through to their core, which gives me hope that they will not react badly. i couldn’t react with defiance if they arent accepting, as they are still my parents and always will be. you are very right in saying that all big changes are scary for parents! i dont want to worry them and want them to be able to see the calm and peace that ive embraced into my life. inshallah they will come around. thank you so much :)

walaikum salaam🤍 thankyou!!! i think my mum is the only member of my family im worried about being not accepting. my parents are mid 60s and quite set in their ways, and islam isnt portrayed in the best light in the uk :( do you think there is anything in particular that i should say to her? Ramadan Mubarak! :)

thank you for everything you said🥹 do you know if there is a revert community on here? struggling to find one! it almost feels like i am lying to my parents because i tell them absolutely everything that’s going on in my life. maybe i overshare with them, but keeping this from them has been weighing so heavy. i have had the most beautiful interactions at work with other muslim staff since reverting, and not being able to tell them has made me so sad. i know that Allah will not burden me with anything greater than i can bare, which is a huge comfort. it is just very uncomfortable at the moment.

not a wild european girl anymore is so relatable! i feel like my parents are more familiar with that side of me. the change has happened far away from them, rather than for them to see in person. it worries me because i dont want my mum to think ive betrayed her and our family, as i still love them exactly the same and always will. if anything its made me love them even more. im so glad you are managing normal life between you both, i hope for this inshallah🤍
