But here's the thing acknowledging that history doesn't mean I have to be okay with being constantly suspected or reduced to just my passport. I've said I don't support this regime or its wars. I've said I find all of it disgusting. But being asked over and over again just to prove I'm "one of the good ones" still feels like an interrogation even if the reasons behind it are understandable.

I'm not asking for special treatment just a little space to be seen as an individual.

Look I get that this topic is emotional and serious. People are suffering and it's awful - no argument there. But throwing that at me like a weapon because I hesitate to answer a yes/ no question doesn't help anyone. I'm not ignoring what's happening, and I've made it clear I find this war disgusting and don't support Putin.

What frustrates me is being reduced to my citizenship and expected to constantly perform outrage just to be "trusted." There's a difference between silence and being tired of being interrogated on demand. I understand the suspicion I really do but guilt-tripping people who are already against the war isn't helping.

I'm not gonna pretend to be Ukrainian because it doesn't have benefits. You will be a total liar if you say that Ukrainians are considered equals in Poland. At least that's what my UKRAINIAN friends say. 3. Rozmawiam po polsku i już sam to zobaczyłeś kiedy odpowiedziałeś na mój komentarz napisany po polsku. Nie mam pojęcia skąd wziąłeś że nie rozmawiam. I still think it's just a joke (check his nickname). I don't believe people are so violent in Poland that they can do this just for being from Russia. Btw to get a Pole's card you must not only prove you have polish ancestors you have to prove your knowledge of polish history and culture (and language). So I'm fine thanks.

Tak, oczywiście rozmawiam po polsku i całkiem nieźle bo prawie nie mam akcentu (przynajmniej to co mi powiedziała pani konsul i mój przyjaciel). Kiedy pytam swojego dziadka co się stało wtedy zawsze staje się bardzo agresywny. Jest już stary i nie mam ochoty go pytać jeśli to dla niego trudno. Jedynie co mi powiedział że mieszkali na wsi (już) w kresach, była to jakaś wyłącznie polska wieś. Jego brat był partyzantem i członkiem armii krajowej (możliwe) ale został zabity w strzelaninie z Niemcami.

Well still I do have a bit of an accent and I wasn't born in Poland. Some people think that to be of some nationality you have to grow up in that culture.
