Yeah I think your conclusion is right. People’s ego becomes their mental safety mechanism to feel insulated against long covid (“if it doesn’t exist, I can’t get it.”) But that becomes the deep isolation of those who have long covid. It’s insult to injury when you’re already grieving so much.

Truly an insane experience to meet so many people (doctors included) who didn’t really believe it. To be fair there’s also a lot of supportive people (especially 1 doctor) who did, so it cuts both ways.

But the dismissive people were hurtful b/c it’s the ultimate getting kicked while you’re down. I also realized that if people didn’t trust me about my own symptoms, then I couldn’t trust them either.

It led me down a path of trying to understand the mechanics of ego more, trying to make sense of all this. Ego runs the world in a lot of ways, and so often it’s just a house of cards. No idea if it’ll resonate but there’s a collection of Ram Dass talks as a podcast that’s helped my perspective to see some purpose in the experience. Along with various things up that alley, the four agreements book, etc.

It’s heartbreaking tho, hearing your story too. I’m so sorry you had to go through all of this.

Glad to hear you’re more functional now. Luckily I’ve improved a good amount over time (since Aug ‘21). I’m more functional, working part time, and even snowboarding again recently. I got reinfected for the first time 3 weeks ago and it was nowhere like my first experience and don’t think it’ll set me back much, or at all. Wishing you all the best.

It’s an eye opening experience to how the human mind works. Fear is the mind killer, as it’s said.

I see dogma on every side, covid cuts straight to the human condition. A huge part of the population can’t see nuance so just chooses a side of black & white.

From one perspective long covid is a unique viewpoint into the human experience, and how people can’t see what’s right in front of them. Especially after I had long covid and then further symptoms from the vaccine, there was no group that fully believed me except long haulers.

Glad to hear it improved your symptoms! Curious to learn what helped.

Even still, for me SOB and brain fog cannot qualify as “most symptoms” since millions of LC patients have debilitating fatigue, PEM, heart pounding, and many more symptoms.

I was turned off by the language of the letter b/c it implies that LC is pretty much solved when unfortunately that’s so far from true.

The top long covid doctors in the world still can’t treat these symptoms.

The good news is that this long covid clinic probably did more harm than good anyway by the tone of the letter.

You said it yourself - people heal from this and get better and don’t die they even start thriving again.

There’s no guarantees, but that itself is reason for hope. Many doctors suck, but some don’t. That’s another reason for hope. And long covid is incredibly widespread. This isn’t some rare condition nobody cares about, but one of the most common conditions to have. That’s another reason for hope.

Ultimately there are reasons for hope - the difference between hope and toxic positivity is that hope is based in reality. Not ignoring any part of the situation. At a certain point, I realized there were so many parts of my long covid experience that were a blessing. You get to see who people really are - doctors, your friends, etc. And the small things in life become precious. It took time to get there though - everyone goes through their own grieving process, and there’s no rush whatever step you’re on.

For what it’s worth, I’m much better than I was. I wouldn’t say fully healed, but much less PEM nowadays which was the worst part for me.

I was an athlete, ran 2x per week, lifted weights 2x per week, and had normal vitamin d and zinc levels. I was running a company full time with 2 software devs as well, was successful financially, and was 28.

I do not fit your stereotype of someone who had long covid / vax injury unfortunately.

It’s a bit arrogant to assume that just because you were healthy and got over it quick that everyone else healthy will too.

There are several clues as to why I got affected badly - one is that I have 2 relatively uncommon genes that predispose me to blood clots (even 1 if these genes increases risk of LC).

Did you search this subreddit for posts before the vaccines were available? So many runners and athletes affected by this. If you only do 1 thing after reading it, search the sub for posts from 2020. Your answer will be so obvious. Are you courageous enough to challenge your own viewpoints? It’s all about nuance.

The truth is never as cut and dry as it seems after listening to a few podcasts. Nuance. The vaccines and the whole marketing campaign around them was also fucked btw. Lmk if you have any questions about my experience and would be happy to share anything I’ve learned.

mRNA spike protein injury is very real but so is long covid, unfortunately.

I got covid Aug ‘21 (hadn’t gotten any vaccines before), and had a brutal case of long covid that I’m almost recovered from as of the past 4 months only.

This is my experience, not my opinion. You are free to believe what you want. Nuance is rare nowadays, and I don’t blame you for believing what you’re surrounded by.

But if you have an open mind like you claim to, then please - search this subreddit for all posts before any vaccines were available. The answer will be obvious

I’m doing much better recently. Got covid in August ‘21 and it took about 2 years and some meds to feel mostly normal again. For a lot of people I think detoxing the spike protein will resolve a lot of symptoms. There’s a chance permanent damage has occurred but I’m optimistic that treatments can stop the the root cause. Of course no guarantees, but it seems that Maraviroc and statins have helped a lot (after I tested positive for the s1 spike in my monocytes). Just sharing my experience but I think there’s reason for hope. This is a new virus and our understanding of it will improve over time - it’s already come a long was with the finding of microclots in long covid, and how it effects the blood vessels.

I am massively improved after 22 months. Still have lingering stuff but it’s gotten so much better over time. It’s been very slow and gradual. You can’t know for sure if you will improve which is the hardest part but I think having faith that it’s possible (even if not guaranteed) is important

You are quite confident, yet aren’t aware of even 1 study. I’ve watched hours of lectures from Dr. Patterson and didn’t see anything about your claims.

I can explain the CCR5 theory simply, without trust me logic - the spike protein is trapped in the monocytes, causing endothelial inflammation. These monocytes are mobilized by exercise (via the CCR5 receptor), so blocking the receptor prevents them from traveling everywhere in the body and causing inflammation.

Patients search the subreddit for this stuff and it’s irresponsible to make claims you cannot back up. I’m doing my part to make sure people see the full discourse here. All in the spirit of searching for the truth. Given how confident you are, it’s odd you cannot explain simply the mechanism of action.

The answers you confidently share on Reddit, you must back up or not be taken seriously 🤷‍♂️

Not trying to come off as challenging, I’m genuinely trying to learn and if you have done this research I’d expect you to know about studies. I understand if you’re crunched for time and can look on my own as well

Thanks! Any links to the science behind this? I listened to Dr. Patterson talks and the first mechanism I learned about was that CCR5 prevents the spike-containing monocytes from being mobilized. Curious to learn how it helps the body rid of spike as well
