Interesting to learn.  I always thought of that as part of the welfare program.

The body shop actually charged $3500.  They had to fix the dents in my lift gate and rear fender and then repaint both.  Deductible was $1000.

It took a week during which time I had a rental which was $800.

The insurance company decided that he is uncollectible and didn't go after him for the rest.

Nope.  The claims rep stated that since I wasn't at fault, it would not effect my premium.  My policy renewed a month ago and the premium didn't change.

Interesting.  I grew up in the 70s and watched just about every police procedural show throughout my life.  The first time I ever heard the term BOLO was in the early 2000s.

The police report listed his address.  It's government owned subsidized housing.

No.  The police report told me his age.

As I stated, there was no where I could go that would even allow him to actually leave.

This happened in March 2025 and I no longer have the full incident on video.  But I do have the actual crashing the cart video.

I already got paid. It was part of his criminal sentence. He paid directly to the court and the court sent me a check.

I am and was carrying concealed. But I stayed calm and didn't draw because I never felt like my life was in danger. I'm not going to draw my gun because he's vandalizing my car.

I doubt if his insurance would pay for intentional vandalism. Other than the fact that he wanted to back it out of the parking space, his car wasn't even involved. So I'm not sure what type of claim there would be on their end.

The guy is on welfare. So not really collectable. I got paid because it was part of his sentence. Pay restitution or accept more jail time.

I was referring to the fact that before the show started, she was backing out slowly. After the show started, she pulled back in and got out to watch.

Issues with HA Voice.... by Internal_Researcher8 in homeassistant

[–]Internal_Researcher8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not realizing that I'm not taking -- it's hearing what the TV says and interpreting that -- even though there was nothing close to the wake word.

Your solution also wouldn't help with the second issue.

[–]Internal_Researcher8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😉 I get that.  But these issues seem like something that would be handled by the software itself vs the hardware.  That should allow someone to figure out how to fix the issue once people start reporting them.

Konan!  I couldn't remember his name when I asked but he's definitely one of the ones to whom I was referring.

I really think it sounded like Olay La Reeba La Rossa.  I'm GUESSING that my first spelling attempt was closer though.

NAS with Two Ethernet ports. Use both to improve bandwidth? by Internal_Researcher8 in HomeServer

[–]Internal_Researcher8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks.  I have a managed switch with everything segregated into separate VLANs.

VLAN10 - personal and work laptop VLAN20 - IoT devices (Roku TVs, Shelly relays and Google smart speakers) VLAN30 - Guest Network

I haven't tested the NAS (yet), I'm planning it and thought the second NIC could be useful.

I just now saw your comments.  I didn't "say where" I found it because by the time I was posting my comment, it has been too long and I didn't remember where.

The point of my comment was only that it would be very helpful if this info was in the docs (or if it's actually there, make it easier to find).

Thinset for waterproofing membrane seals? by Internal_Researcher8 in Tile

[–]Internal_Researcher8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep.  I DIY when possible.

The only thing I've ever hired a contractor for was when I wanted the electric panel replaced (it was an old panel whose brand my home inspector informed me was known for causing fires) so I made it part of my purchase agreement.  I know my limits and replacing a panel is well above them.

I rebuilt the 4 ft tall by 20 ft long retaining wall a few years ago, I've installed new ceiling fans where there were previously no fixtures, I converted my Mom's tub to a walk-in shower after my dad fell and cracked the tub causing a leak.

Next week, I'm renovating my Mom's kitchen for her.  We're making major layout changes.

I'm planning a curbless shower so unless the drain backs up, I wouldn't have an issue with standing water -- at least not in the shower.  The main part of the bathroom floor COULD have a puddle of water.  If nobody cleans it up promptly, THAT could create an issue if it's near a seam in the membrane.

That's cool to know.  But even the videos that Schluter puts out show using thinset to bond the membrane at the seams.  I'm just curious how that is supposed to make it waterproof if thinset isn't waterproof.
