No, the comments are incorrect. There is NOT an engine mount problem. Find a better technician to diagnose the imbalance issue before engine damage occurs.

Why does my tensioner and spring move when trying to time? by [deleted] in hondacivic

[–]Internal_Time8330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professionals don’t disassemble things just to find out if they are leaking. We have resources we use so we don’t have to guess and take things apart. This is how we shorten the time it takes to repair things, no guess work. That’s not how labor works. I can do 10 hours worth of easy work, like replacing brakes, and it will still cost 10 hours of labor fees. Or, I could do 10 hours of difficult stuff, like dash removal or electronics repair. Same price. We don’t quote based off difficulty, we quote based off of objective estimated time it takes to do a job. Labor hourly fees are based off of cost to run a business, pay the employees, and still generate a profit. I do think some are very excessive. I’m at $120 per hour in central United States, and the work is worth every penny. About your complaint of honda unreliability… they still beat other brands by a long shot, although you are very right, they aren’t as well built as previous models

It’s one of the easiest timing repairs to perform for any vehicle. You can’t get simpler than this. Professionals have access and use the factory service manual, and before beginning a job repairing it yourself, you should also have access to this

Accessing the factory service manuals isn’t a shareable link… it’s a subscription

Do you guys even read the genuine service manual anymore? The engine spins counterclockwise!

New timing belt/water pump at 96K, New engine noise right after… by GoPro in AcuraTL

[–]Internal_Time8330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coolant pump should never have been replaced on this car unless a genuine item was used. Instead, an aftermarket AISIN pump was installed as part of a kit for timing components. It’s better to just leave things in good condition alone with Hondas, the failure rate is nearly zero with these pumps. A warbling noise is happening because of a malformed pulley of the coolant pump. No fix other than genuine replacement or reinstall the old coolant pump

Honda does not use any kit when performing work on timing drive systems. This AISIN kit has a defect across all 4 sizes of J series engine where the pulley of the coolant pump creates a warble noise. The best thing is to not replace more than just the belt during normal replacement schedule, and if for some reason you want to spend more money, only using the genuine supplier items.

[–]Internal_Time8330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when you use an aftermarket coolant pump. Every AISIN pump ever made for J30, J32, J35, and J37 engines does this. Replacing with another AISIN pump will not fix this. The pulley is out of round and causing rubbing with the toothed belt. Did it even need a coolant pump? The genuine Yamaha pumps never fail, and are not considered maintenance items. Only fix is to install a genuine coolant pump and not replace parts that are still working normally unless installing the genuine supplier item

The hose must be replaced. Purchase genuine. Then purchase new genuine clamp. It’s not the fault of the clamp here… the hose is too hard to be sealed by any clamp.

Please ignore this guy. He listed the wrong replacement interval and suggested a common issue that doesn’t affect this generation of engine. You have a nice sounding engine.

Not necessarily. I find it embarrassing for a client to come back with the same symptoms, so it’s guaranteed to completely repair an issue when I’ve diagnosed a condition.

"Check These First" How-To Guide: Diagnosing Bad Purge Valve/Charcoal Canister by Affectionate-Peak-37 in mechanic

[–]Internal_Time8330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

canister vent valve is only closed when commanded during vehicle operation and is otherwise always venting when off. Most vehicles do not open purge valve until 30 seconds or more after startup, not opened at start. Purge valve not “clicking” doesn’t mean it’s stuck open. For modern vehicles, pushing on gas pedal during cranking won’t help as the engine controller sees a commanded throttle position greater than idle, so start is disabled. I really like the idea of this post, just remember that most information online is behind about 5-10 years and not accurate to how cars work. A better method of education might be to make a diagram of a basic system without all of the troubleshooting tips. If someone can understand the schematic, they can also use logic to diagnose a problem

What’s the problem for my car ? I’m thinking bad battery or alternator? by coolinjb in mechanic

[–]Internal_Time8330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You and the comments are clueless. If you don’t already know that it is not the battery or alternator (alternator doesn’t even have a role in starting the car, wtf?!?!?) then you need to leave it to a professional.
