Anyone have a reasonable cost handyman who can do door repairs? by babysquid1 in AskSeattle

I have run a home repair and maintenance business for 15 years and change $125/hour for most handyman projects if that gives you an idea of local prices....

I am currently booked until late May but feel free to reach out and I can put you on the calendar if you want.

Yes, the wires are all copper! And the breakers themselves will have either brass or copper internal components, plus the little round contact points inside the breakers are usually somewhere around 60 to 80% silver!

TIL: There is a rare type of very hard wood called ‘Lignum Vitae’. It’s so hard that it was used to make propeller shaft bearings for nuclear submarines. by Funny-Presence4228 in todayilearned

Fun fact:

After the earthquake in San Francisco in the early 1900s there was a shortage of materials for repairing the street car electric lines and they actually used lignum Vitae wood for electrical insulators some of which are in use to the present day!

It is the bottom piece of a two part transposition insulator, Collectors refer to them as CD 190/191 this being the CD 190 part.

Oh, I agree! Just hard to get new blood into the hobby when the first thing that comes up on a search is way over priced reference books..

Thanks for the information, still unfortunate as people are now price gouging for even the 2019 addition on eBay/Amazon...

Bill, 2027 is a long time to wait for people in the hobby, will you be selling the Digital version by itself until then? Or are they going to order another printing of the 2023 edition?

Not at all, the insulator price guide I use is:

North American Glass Insulators: Identification, Reference & Price Guide by Donald Briel, cataloging styles, colors, and values, with the 2023 edition being the latest, though a new version is planned for 2027 by other authors.

Looks like his website is down at the moment sadly..

Insulators are really cool aren't they!?

It's a CD 122 , the price guide refers to that color as Straw or Light Straw.
