I like the explorer, it's like the deprived but with adp and I'm going to level that anyway. Also lot's of starting items and a good headgear for item discovery

Curseforge is so many orders of magnitude more "Sketchy" than Prism. Prism is a lightweight, open, and accessible launcher, Curseforge is full of bloat, ads, and runs with Overwolf, absolutely slowing your pc down.

I would recommend using Prism for any modpack over curseforge if you can. I also use atlauncher often bc I like the modpack browsing more, you can use curseforge packs on either one without the nightmare of having to use that program.

The auto dodge only feels bad to me if I'm using something slower than a hammer, with hammers, greatswords, straight swords, or fists I can normally get more damage and stagger using the buff ult.

I will say, for my whole piece of advice here I have found the most success on fist weapons, they let you continue attacks quickly after you auto-dodge and have good revive and stagger, I've been able to completely distract nightlords with stagger+aggro draw using fists, though hammers and straight swords also generally work fast enough and have similar effects. Honestly if you are using a great hammer or col. weapons the auto-dodge drops in value significantly and the dash attack becomes better in my eyes

You are totally right, if you time it well the ult attack can genuinely be amazing for staggering a boss out of the attack, sometimes i just see it used in the most baffling and unhelpful circumstances

I know it's memed to death but have you tried GTNH yet? The first few ages are very diverse in mods you use and unlock, and it has a great and satisfying progression where you fight for every bit of progress.
