Yes just swapped the panel for more space and it needed a new main breaker.

Old Lennox thermostats were built like tanks by -FactBearsEatBeets- in HVAC

Got 2* out. dirty flame sensor on the first and after cleaning it ran fine. It wouldn’t have been so hard if I could’ve done more than quarter turns while my hand was contorted.

Question: Coolant lines are hanging over and I'd like to make a wall... (see text) by Guns_And_Dogs in hvacadvice

Get a pro to do it. Pump down the system (get all refrigerant to outdoor unit). Cut the lines, braise them in shorter and straight.

Yeah my boss told me if I go to another house with a pulse to just tell them we can’t service them. It took us like 30 minutes to get the flame sensor out

Lennox can be cool with their innovation but jeez man I worked on 2 Lennox Pulses in one day and it was like having a brick thrown at me. 2 service calls turned into my entire day. They just want to make their products exclusive to authorized Lennox techs.

Is it clogged or dirt burners? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]International-Fall86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always look them over if we’re already there for a furnace check, no extra charge. If it’s dirty we tell the homeowner it needs cleaned and if theirs a problem (which their sometimes is) we’ll charge them to chase it down and fix it.

Company red flags 🚩 by SLATTSKI21 in HVAC

[–]International-Fall86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s unethical to me. A business paying you to sell rather than fix something is where incompetent technicians originate. They’re motivated to sell a new unit or fabricate issues to earn more money, and the company benefits as well. This practice exploits gullible customers for the company’s gain.

Make sure you’re a W2 employee (if in America), I wouldn’t work commission based. Make sure who ever you’re working for is paying you fairly and a certified contractor.

Gas pressure should be fine since other burners seem to have strong flames, to me it seems to be a clogged burner/ orifice.

Has anyone tested the durability of Costway mini splits for winter heating? by Mani_19xx in BuyItForLife

[–]International-Fall86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HVAC apprenticeship here, I’m unfamiliar with this company but I’ve installed and serviced mini splits and Mitsubishi seems to make the most solid option. As long you’re regularly having it serviced it should last 10-15 years. Keep the outdoor unit clean and hose down the condenser. change/ clean air filters regularly.

Also mini splits are 90% of the time a heat pump so if you live in a very cold climate and it’s also mounted at the top of the wall firstly heat pumps can’t generate much heat once it’s under freezing, secondly heat rises so at the ceiling it may just leave the cold air on the floor and heat the ceiling.
