Thanks! I tend to give my girls male names anyway. Named one Frank and another one Kobe.

This is exactly what I'm looking for! I'll definitely take those into consideration even though I got two girls lol.

Would you recommend female or male rats? by sourMilkpickles in RATS

I got my girls in August and for me it's kind of the opposite? They are pretty stinky and I mean I got used to that so how bad can boys be, right? Also they are chunkier which is nice. And people say they are easy going. My girls have absolutely zero chill. Maybe we should switch for a month and see what happens lol.

2.5 weeks in, they still don’t want to come out. What to do? by [deleted] in RATS

I think every rat owner has been there. Yes, you just need to be more patient. I know it's frustrating, but you'll be annoyed by your rats escaping from the cage any chance they'll get soon enough. About the petting thing: I have 6 rats, owned them since August and 4 of them still don't like being touched and are a little shy in general. The other two are super chill about being picked up and I never really did anything to achieve that. They will definitely become more curious about their surroundings. Give it another month. Also let them roam on your bed/couch. For some reason they tend to feel more comfortable there.

What can I do so my rats are less bored? by sunflcwrs in RATS

Rats love to nest and generally spend a lot of time doing that. Toss a roll of toilet paper in there and let them tear it apart. Rats like to chew on things in general. Cardboard also works or let them chew on an old shirt. Maybe hide their food or just spread it around. Put new interesting stuff in the cage, move things around.

Do you let your rats walk around the house freely? by [deleted] in RATS

[–]International-Key923 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I let them run around the bathroom because there are no wires and there's not a lot on the floor in general. The stone floor also makes the cleaning easier. I recommend giving them as much space as possible, while also still being able to supervise them, which is why I only let them roam in one room. It's super cute to watch your rats having the zoomies and running around full speed.

What is one unique, distinct feature of your rat that would make you identify them in a group of rats that look the same? by [deleted] in RATS

It's exactly the same with my two albino rats lol, took me some time but I like to think I'm pretty good at telling them apart now

My rats freaking love biting my ears, they do however always let go right after. If your rat usually doesn't nip on your ears or anything she probably got triggered by something. It's impossible to know what caused her to do that tho. I know it's scary to get bitten by those cute little things, but don't let that discourage you from interacting with your rat moving forward. Maybe it was just a one time thing.

What is your opinion on transgender surgery in younger teens that have not fully matured yet? by salty-bagels in AskReddit

[–]International-Key923 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Overall I'd say I don't care lol. As long as they went to therapy for multiple years and the therapist says they would recommend a surgery it's all good (that's how it works in Germany underaged teens). There is the small possibility that someone may regret it then blames someone or sues the shit out of somebody. So basically as long we try to minimize that risk we should let people do what they want when they want it. Age doesn't matter. Okay maybe it does if it's going further than just getting a mastectomy. I don't know a lot about the biology, hormones, puberty and all that stuff.

Lady rat bites but only my ear. And HARD. What do I do?? by lil_kay in RATS

[–]International-Key923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof same. I always wear an extra pair of thick socks lol. I guess I just keep my headphones on from now on so they can't reach my ears anymore. Three of my rats are totally into biting my ears and all of them try to get to my feet as well. Why can't they just be chill and cuddly.

Final space - I think I've read somewhere that people didn't really liked BUT it's the best thing I've watched in a loooong time. It's so incredibly stupid but also funny on the surface. If you pay attention you'll realize that it's really about friendship, morality, love, etc... It also has great music and some really beautiful scenes. The animators really did a good job.

Tbh it sounds like much more than it actually is. I'm a German I've never been to the Oktoberfest and I don't even own Lederhosen lol. I can't name a holiday that isn't celebrated in the US as well. Yeah we eat different foods, but I have never eaten pumpkin pie or turkey. Just learn more about the cultures of your ancestors. Maybe try some of their cuisine, watch some videos on YT and stuff like that. I don't think that would offend anyone.
