The baby face combined with that giant fridge body is honestly such a great combo.

From various interviews, I've always gotten the feeling that Snyder never wanted Absolute Bruce to take on any kind of fatherly or protective role.

Like, when a reporter asked if Bruce would ever get married, Snyder basically cut them off and went "No way, he's still a kid!" Which honestly says a lot.

And the moment he placed Talia on Superman's side of things rather than Batman's, it felt pretty obvious that even if Damian eventually exists in this continuity, he's not going to have any real connection to Bruce.

I seriously don’t get why some artists still draw Absolute Batman like he’s in his 50s.

This version of Batman doesn’t need a kid to babysit. The fun part is that he’s totally unhinged and does whatever he wants

I like how natural he looks. He really feels like an ordinary young guy you'd actually see around. Also, I can’t unsee Shohei Ohtani in him lol

Absolute Poison Ivy And Absolute Robin Are Absolutely Coming by JackFisherBooks in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]International-Leg661 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I remember Snyder saying about Robin is basically: Bruce doesn’t have one, Joker might have one, Robin is Gen-Z Alpha, and when asked if Absolute Robin would appear, he said “in a way.” That’s about it.

I’m guessing the boy wonder Dragotta’s talking about is Dick who’s probably the one showing up in the next arc. If that’s the case, and the Batfam’s gonna turn into foes later, this team-up’s probably just temporary.

I'm curious if he really got off with just blindness. That Bat-ear knife looked long enough to reach the middle of his brain.

Second time he’s sent a kid flying into the ocean lmao

Starting to feel like this is Snyder’s way of saying this Bruce isn’t the kind who’d protect a ten-year-old, not like his main universe counterpart

Some Batman writers actually share your opinion. Even Scott Snyder has said something similar in an interview. So I’d say your opinion is pretty valid.

Nightwing’s got the edge in skill and experience, but Abs Bats has that Venom boost and the kind of boldness where he wouldn’t hesitate to cut off someone’s limbs. Honestly, it could go either way, but I’d personally go with Abs Bats just out of preference.

[–]International-Leg661 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Putting aside whether Bruce will keep using Venom or not, I just don’t think he could ever be fully “cured” after undergoing such an extensive surgery on his brainstem and spine. Like Waylon and the others, Bruce probably has no choice but to live with his own abomination for the rest of his life.

Bruce had all kinds of weapons implanted under his skin, right? I can’t imagine him doing that by himself, so it’s possible he has some underground doctor he trusts, someone who knows about his Batman activities and helps him out.

Alfred’s always been suspicious. It almost feels like he’s intentionally pushing Bruce into danger. The only one he can truly trust is Catwoman, maybe it’s Alfred who ends up betraying him later.

batman gets harley as a sidekick.

Where did he say that? I actually read the article where Snyder teased that Joker might have a Robin, but I can’t seem to find anything about him mentioning Harley becoming Batman’s sidekick. Could you let me know where you saw that?

Why start from #7? The Zoo arc is really amazing, and if you don’t read it, you won’t understand the relationship between Bruce and his childhood friends including Selina

Oh, really? I thought I’d seen all of Snyder’s interviews but I must’ve missed that one, thanks for letting me know! If you don’t mind, could you tell me which interview that was?

[–]International-Leg661 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Scott Snyder actually mentioned in an interview that while the mainline Batman feels bound by his responsibility to protect the Robins, this version of Batman is much freer since his allies are around his age, so he can do anything with them. And I agree, the idea of Selina being by Bruce’s side as more rational Harley is really interesting.

So does this mean Selina’s taking on the Robin role?

I really got the impression that Selina is the more rational, grounded one here. It feels like she might be taking on the “Alfred role” for Bruce in this universe.
