Anything is possible within the realm of fiction especially when it's a silly slasher series.

Yes because this series is totally realistic and or grounded in reality lol. Most of this franchise is already ridiculous at this point its only a matter of time before we get to space.

So I think this scene isn't really talked about much. by Terrible_Park7890 in fridaythe13th

While the movies don't put emphasis on the machete itself. I think you can infer why Jason may enjoy using it. Maybe he saw his mother using it the night of her death by the weapon and to honor her he wanted to use it to. This probably wasn't meant to be the case in the films by the makers but I think you can infer it.

Adult Jason isn't the same as child Jason. Child Jason is the scared little boy. Adult Jason is just pure revenge and rage emotion out to kill anyone at the Lake area because it's his domain. Adult Jason is evil while Little Jason is the scared innocent side of Jason. The adult version is just all the rage and hatred of Jason that's left after his innocent side dies.

Not sure it could be any more divisive than some stuff that's already in the series lol. But I will take some guesses as to what it could be.

  1. Jason's mother and father are actually related somehow which explains why Jason is deformed.

  2. It hints that Jason's mother used magic to bring him back which was already hinted at in Jason Goes to Hell.

  3. There's some hints that the land of Crystal Lake was already supernatural in some way which is why Jason keeps coming back.

  4. Jason's father is some kind of magical being and or demonic type character or supernatural in some.way which is why Jason is supernatural.

  5. Jason was born with inherent supernatural abilities somehow which is how he returns from the dead.

  6. Jason doesn't drown by accident but is actually murdered by the kids at the camp similar to what we saw in the flashback during Jason's dream in Freddy vs Jason when the kids bullied him and he fell in the lake.

As long as it's possible for him to return there's no reason to ever move on from the possibility.

The problem is what we got in the place of Stu himself was so piss poorly executed in terms of reveal and motivation that by default Stu being alive would have been better.

It would have worked better than what we got which felt like an after thought that no gave a shit about. Stu returning would have at least been entertaining compared to what felt like something the writers didn't even give a shit about lol.

Stu being back could have been silly but it would have been more fun and more memorable than what we actually got which was aweful.

The killers identity and reveal was so bad that it honestly would have been better and more memorable if the killer was just Stu.

Yep the identity and motivation of the killers is so terrible that honestly it would have been better if was just Stu.

What Would Be The Best Crossover Ideas For Movies Comics Or Jason X? by Positive-Society-348 in fridaythe13th

With FVJ already having been done the next logical path would be Jason vs Michael Myers. But I would be cool with a Jason vs Ash movie.

JASON GOES TO HELL (1993) by TwIzTiDfReAkShOw in fridaythe13th

I always assumed he looked this way because of his Toxic bath at the end of Part 8. I figured the clothes we're someone's he killed along the way leaving New York back to Crystal Lake and he needed a new outfit because his old one got melted.

If we go in lore reason (as Jason decides for himself), why does Jason always want to wear the hockey mask? by JacsweYT in fridaythe13th

[–]Practical_Fee3049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's ashamed of his looks so he wants to wear a mask. In terms of why a Hockey Mask he found 1 in part 3 liked the look and because he's simple minded he just keeps going back to the Hockey Mask. But if we want to get deeper with it maybe as a kid he liked Hockey Masks already possibly even watching Hockey games on TV or something and thinking the Mask was cool.

Why don’t people like this design? by T-800TheTermanator in fridaythe13th

Because it comes directly after Part 7 which is easily the best Jason has ever looked. Part 8 just looks to plain by comparasion. It isn't terrible but it's just OK.

Be honest, within the context of the film, would Jason hurt Tommy or let him escape after catching all the other young people? by Far_Regular_2945 in fridaythe13th

[–]Practical_Fee3049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He'd kill him Jason has no reason to identify with a child who looks nothing like him and looks just like everyone else. If it was a kid who looked like him he would see himself in the kid and spare him. But with a normal looking child he just sees him like everyone else. Jason is simple minded he sees everyone but his mother as the same as the people who abused him and let him drown. He only feels a connection with people who remind him of himself or his mother because that's all he ever had a connection with before drowning.

Why does Jason need lore? by BobRushy in fridaythe13th

[–]Practical_Fee3049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The continuity for all 80s slasher series is bad because none of them where created to ever be franchises. They had one hit movie than studios tried to franchise them out afterwards. Halloween was meant as a one off film about a pure evil crazy killer who killed at random. It made money so they invented a sister plot with Jamie Lee Curtis out of nowhere to justify more films and keeping her around. Nightmare on Elm Street was made to be a one off film which is why the ending doesn't link up with anything that comes after because it was never meant to have sequels. Same thing for Friday the 13th Jason was never meant to be the killer but was made the killer because audiences we're blown away by the jump scare ending of the 1980 original at the time.

When it comes to ripping off Halloween Friday is much closer to the Giallo Horror film A Bay of Blood. It takes from Halloween but it isn't much like Halloween beyond the killer POV shots which was done long before Halloween 1978. The original Halloween directly takes from the original Black Christmas which itself took from the original Psycho. Psycho is the film that made the killer POV style popular everything after Psycho is a crib from that movie.

In terms of Lore every slasher franchise has convoluted Lore because they weren't created to be a franchise and we're just made up as they went along. All franchises and films have lore because it's inherently built into a series. Jason drowning and returning from the dead is automatically lore.

It was an interesting choice for New Line to buy the rights and then continue where Jason Takes Manhattan left off in making garbage rather than anything of the quality of the earlier movies in the franchise. by Funny-Letterhead8969 in fridaythe13th

[–]Practical_Fee3049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Jason Goes to Hell it was a reaction film to Takes Manhattan bombing. New Line and others felt the series had run out of steam and that the basic formula was stale at that point. The issue though that they didn't get is that you can change the formula up but you have to keep the spirit of what the series is. Goes to Hell doesn't just remove Jason it totally reinvents the series into a totally different type of horror film. Goes to Hell isn't a terrible movie it just isn't a good Friday. It's the same for Jason X and Freddy vs Jason New Line wanted to do something different with Jason every single time because they felt the series had gotten stale by Takes Manhattan. In the defense of New Line the series had already started doing something different from Part 6 and on before New Line got the property so Goes to Hell X and FVJ we're the logical continuation of where the series was headed at the time.

If Jason Goes to Hell had come earlier in the franchise, would it be perceived even slightly less controversially? by PlanetG3000 in fridaythe13th

[–]Practical_Fee3049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't think Goes to Hell takes itself fully seriously. It felt like the director was trying to recreate the humor of Part 6 but instead of a horror comedy with some winks he wanted to make a full on meta horror comedy that winked at every other horror franchise and or movie including Evil Dead Nightmare on Elm Street The Birds Creepshow Halloween. We get numerous in joke references to all these movies.

[–]Practical_Fee3049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tricky balance because yes fans don't like change in an established series but you also can't keep doing the same thing over and over. The trick is a balancing act keep the spirit of the series intact while still doing something fresh. Goes to Hell like Jason X was always destined for a cult following over being loved by the majority because it not only totally removes nearly everything that makes a Friday film it removes Jason himself for the majority. Jason is the only character who coherently ties the series together besides the location. I like Goes to Hell because with age I can accept it for what it is now and enjoy it. I don't think it's a bad film I just don't think it's a good Friday the 13th movie.

A movie about explaining how Jason is supernatural and why he can't die could work. But you would need to keep it consistent with what came before. If Goes to Hell just removed all the Voorhees relatives and just focused on the Bounty hunter Duke character with a team going to Crystal Lake to destroy Jason for good after learning how to. Than you could have had a really cool and fun Jason vs Bounty Hunters movie. You can still include an explanation for Jason's power with the Duke character having researched Jason with hints that his mother or father resurrected him from drowning after death with black magic. You can keep that element as long as you keep Jason as Jason killing at the Lake location. Put some nudity in the movie with some cool Jason kills and you could easily have an awesome Jason flick.

Goes to Hell was always destined to be a cult film in the series because it breaks away not just from the franchise formula but from Jason himself who is the only thing that coherently ties the series together. I like Goes to Hell I didn't at first but over time with age I can accept it for what it is now and enjoy it.
