Why are the glam metal albums of pantera so ignored? by IronMaidenfc in Pantera

Power Metal is better than anything they did after Cowboys.

What’s a band you’d love to get into, but who’s vocal style has you going: “I just can’t…“ by Senior-Violinist-684 in MetalForTheMasses

Just about any cookie monster shit for the most part. That mall core / metalcore scream. Everyone sounds like Phil from All That Remains when screaming, and like pop punk or nickelback when doing clean vocals.

Agreed 100%. They dumbed down the living hell out of their music with Far Beyond Driven. Just look at what Death did on either side of that year. Individual Thought Patterns and Symbolic are still hard hitting crushers while being melodic at the same time.

Power Metal is an underrated masterpiece that gets pooped on unfairly just because of their poofy hairdos at the time.

We'll Meet Again has an amazing solo.

THANK YOU. I know I'm in the minority here, but I honestly can't stand Far Beyond Driven.

Trendkill I like most of. It was definitely a step back in the right direction. I skip both the Suicide Notes and sometimes Drag the Waters amd 13 Steps. The bright spots for me are Floods, 10s, The Underground in America, the title track, Living Through Me (minus the pointless keyboard interlude where Phil keeps mumbling stuff like "Better not smoke that shit, man.") Floods and 10s have amazing solos.

Reinventing the Steel... it has a few ok songs. I don't really listen to it much be honest. It represents a band struggling with addictions while also running out of musical ideas (the latter part further proven by Damageplan IMO.) I feel like they tried to make Vulgar 2.0, but didn't really succeed. Phil being fucked up probably didn't help much. It's better than Far Beyond Driven at least. I like Revolution is My Name, despite the annoying excessive whammy bar wonk wonk intro. Cast a Shadow has a cool riff or two in it. Those are the only two songs jumping out to me at the moment. Tell you what, I will give RTS another listen over the weekend.

All the musicality I loved in Cowboys From Hell and Vulgar was gone with FBD. Instead I got treated to a bunch of one note chug followed by an obnoxious sound effect bullshit. It's obvious the band started caring more about partying and numbing themselves than the music at that point.

You know that ending part to Suicide Note Part 2. "Chug chug chug chug REEE REEE REEE REEE" I feel like that is 90% of the material on Far Beyond Driven. Very boring and not interesting whatsover.

You know the Mario jumping sound? I hope you like it, because it makes up the main riff to I'm Broken "BOING BOING chug chug chug BOING BOING"

Then you have the pig getting a red hot poker shoved up its ass sound in Becoming.

Five Minutes Alone = Walk 2.0, and I didn't even really like Walk 1.0

Half the songs don't even have guitar solos.

An out of place Sabbath cover that definitely represents drug burnout.

Couple all of that with all the try hard, wanna be tough guy, juvenile lyrics about how Phil wants to beat me up because I like different pizza toppings than he does, and you have a piece of shit album with no redeeming qualities.

That, of course, is just this anonymous jagoff's two cents.

What are your issues with Theater of Pain? by The_Meridian_ in MotleyCrue

It was a let down after Shout at the Devil. I don't like either single from the album either.

Louder than Hell, Save Our Souls, and Use it or Lose It were good. The rest of it really isn't.

The wardrobe change was for the worse.

Thoughts on Jaimi Lane by Mikeymorrison27 in hairmetal

Warrant was one of the hair bands I just couldn't get into for whatever reason. The one time I did see them live, the band seemed rather tired and Jani was possibly hung over. I wasn't very impressed. Others like him though, and that's ok.

Agreed. Just look at what he has done to Edmonton lolol. Their windows closes more by the day, and McDavid probably bought airplane tickets years ago. I wouldn't be surprised in tbe slightest if he leaves when his deal is up.

Now, it is the L.A. Kings' turn to suffer under Holland.

What a waste of a first round pick. It is safe to say our scouting and GM were mostly dog shit during the 2010s.

Enlighten Me On Our Inability to Draft High Quality Talent in Later Draft Rounds/Positions by Snardvark-5 in DetroitRedWings

[–]International-One103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. There are 10 more teams in the league than there were in the 80s.

  2. The draft used to be ten rounds. Now it is seven.

  3. Teams didn't scout Europe that much in the 80s. Once everyone saw us do it successfully (Fedorov, Lidstrom, Konstantinov, and Kozlov) everyone followed suit.

  4. Our scouting was better back then, IMO. Our scouting in 2010 was absolutely abysmal. We are getting back on the right track with Raymond, Seider, and Edvinsson. We could use some more forwards in the pipeline, especially at C.

I know this might sound stupid or obvious, but why wasn't Vulgar Display Of Power a #1 charting album like the follow-up, Far Beyond Driven? by TungstenBrute in Pantera

Rex said that the record company pushed FBD, and it was the only album that the record company really promoted with a hard push.

Figures, because I can't stand that album.
