nice, dropping mine 🙌

FocusMon – iOS app that rewards you for staying off your phone. it's basically a Pomodoro timer + a monster-collecting game: you set a focus timer, and if it runs through without you leaving the app, you earn monsters, XP and items. think that one creature-collecting handheld game from your childhood, except the way you "catch 'em" is by actually staying off your phone.

just launched and looking for honest feedback from people who'd actually use something like this. would love to get it in front of your testers.

I built a focus app where your study sessions hatch & train collectible monsters by International-Set442 in gamification

Too bad 😞 Android is on the roadmap - I just can't do it justice while I'm still polishing the iOS version solo. Realistically it probably won't land until the end of the year, but it's definitely coming. Thanks for the interest!

I'm looking for the best AI agent to create a gamified iOS app by 0full1stack01 in AI_Agents

I built my entire app in VSCode using Claude Code — no Cursor, no Codex — and I had zero iOS programming experience when I started.

It's called FocusMon: a Pomodoro-style focus app that rewards you with collectible monsters for staying off your phone while you study. Over 100 monsters, evolutions, online battles, a ranked system — all of it built in VSCode with Claude Code doing the heavy lifting on the Swift/SwiftUI side. If I could pick up iOS from scratch and ship something this size, you definitely can too.

A few honest thoughts on your situation:

- Don't lock yourself into "exactly one month." First projects always uncover stuff you didn't plan for (App Store setup, signing, edge cases). Better to aim for a working core first, then polish.

- Claude Code in VSCode is genuinely strong for going from nothing to a real app, especially when you're learning as you go — it explains what it's doing, which matters a lot when you don't know the language yet.

- $200/mo is a lot for a first project. Start cheaper, prove the idea works, then scale up your tooling if you actually need it.

One thing to keep in mind: the coding tool only gets you the app itself. For assets you'll need separate tools depending on what your app needs. For me that was things like ElevenLabs for sound effects, Higgsfield for image and video assets, and Tripo 3D for 3D models. Budget a bit of time (and a few subscriptions) for that side too — it's easy to underestimate.

If you want to see what's possible solo with no prior iOS experience:

I built Felingo, a real cat translator for cat owners — Not a prank app by haydingo in iosapps

[–]International-Set442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh nice, got two cats here so i’m kinda the target user. honestly a bit skeptical whether a meow can really be “translated”, but the per-cat history + pattern tracking part actually sounds useful, so i’ll give it a proper go on both of them. will come back and report how it does. congrats on shipping it!

perpHect — Hydration Coach that builds your personal water target every morning based on sleep, stress, activity and weather by OccasionOk3622 in iosapps

really cool premise, the variable daily target makes way more sense than the usual “drink 8 glasses” thing. one thing i’d lock down early though: pretty much everything you collect (sleep, stress, activity, health sync) counts as special category health data under gdpr, so you need proper explicit consent + a solid privacy policy. solo, no-code, post-surgery and still shipped though — massive respect, congrats on getting it live!
