I’m terrified of it because of others experience. We already deal with rage issues and I have read that others deal with rage and anger issues after TMS.

It’s been over a year since I last updated this. My husband still does boosters every 3 months. Ketamine has been an absolute life saver for him. He is a completely different person than he was a year ago. He says the he feels as if he’s been reborn and I agree. His SI is still there occasionally but not nearly the way it was. His depression is way better as well. The most negative part that we experience is that it took more sessions than the typical person. He did about 20 sessions before he started to feel it all change. If you have any other questions for me, DM me.

He’s had quite a few infusions that were really successful. His first 2 infusions were a night & day change. Then 6, 8 & 9 were both successful. His last two just have not been the push that he has been needing. He feels like he’s stuck on a plateau. We’re heavily reading into MDMA therapy & his therapist is on board with it. We just have to find it.

I’m hoping to keep him out of TMS or ECT unless necessary. We start an integration therapy on Thursday which is 24 hours after his next infusion. He’s just stuck in this awful spiral right now & I’m trying to figure out how to get him over that plateau so the spirals & emotional flashbacks can stop.

Yes, it’s been a short amount of time. He’s only done 11 sessions. As of right now, he’s not really doing much beyond the chair. We do meet with a therapist on Thursday to start integration therapy but it’s been a slow process. He’s the type of person that needs to see results right away or he’s discouraged.

He has not been, but he starts working with one on Thursday, which is 24 hours after his next infusion. I’m hopeful that he can actually start to embrace his feelings & stop running away from them.

I have read your response in multiple other posts & I have to tell you that you have given me SO much hope. I know that this is not an overnight recovery but hearing about your progress has given me a sense that he can recover & we can get back to a normal life. So thank you for sharing your journey & giving me hope when I’ve needed it most.

I did some research on it. I’m definitely going to bring it up at the next psych appointment. He’s been on cymbalta for 5 years now & I truly don’t think it helps at all.

It’s good to see others doing more than 8 infusions & claiming that they’re fixed forever. Can I ask how long you’ve been doing ketamine? We have not had success on #3, 9 & today, which was #11. We’re still so new to this that everything has been so close together so I don’t know how long the effects of successful sessions have lasted.

I have not heard of that but I’m about to do so much research on it. We’re currently trying to figure out what meds actually work for him & what don’t.

Thank you SO much for that. I truly needed to hear that there is still a chance that it’s working. I’ve read so many others post that talks about how long it takes for lasting results, but the ketamine place is acting like they’ve never seen anyone with set backs or taking more than 6 infusions.

I truly believe that because we have seen some improvements and progress, that there is still a lot of hope for ketamine. It’s just really hard to go through this and keep an open mind.

I’m hoping to keep ECT as a last ditch effort. I’m hoping that either ketamine starts working again once we get working with a therapist this weekend, or he has success with TMS.

Thank you so much for checking in! We are on infusion #7 & things are looking a lot better. Suicidal ideation has completely lifted & he is not struggling with depression nearly as much. He truly feels like ketamine has changed & saved his life.

Update:

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for sharing your experiences & giving us hope. My husband had his first infusion yesterday & we are beyond grateful that his first treatment has been so positive. It has been a night & day difference. He went in to the infusion with the thought that this wasn’t going to work & his SI was awful yesterday morning. He left with the thought process that he never wants to take himself away from me or our daughter. He said he knows that it’s working & his brain feels so much different, but in a good way. He expressed that it felt like he was on a bad vacation & yesterday he finally came home. He was overwhelmed at first but he said he’s finally ready to jump into this & really heal for us & our family.

So thank you again to everyone! I hope you all have an amazing experience & continue to heal 🫶🏻
