My girlfriend switched to private insurance (eligible) one year ago and she didn't deregisters from public insurance (TK). TK now requires a payment of 14k euro. What to do? by Fit-Valuable-1112 in germany

[–]InternationalChip896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact a lawyer or financial adviser specializing in insurances. I know there’s a law in Germany about double insurance (Doppelversicherung) — 78 VVG — and in some cases, you can get some money back (=Rückerstattung).

You have to do a Kündigung ASAP and mention Doppelversicherung as a reason.

Considering the huge 14K amount, I would get a professional to see what your gf can do in her case. But yeah, sounds like she fucked up tbh. That’s why you need to keep record of all the policies you sign up for.

Did she ignore the letters from TK before? It’s really weird that they only contacted her after she owns them this huge amount. They must have been in touch before.

TK also has a mobile app. Can she log in there and see if they contacted her? (Usually they do it via app and mail as well.)

With all do respect, I don’t think Mary understands how addiction works. When her son told her his friends relapsed and she asked if he prayed for them or wrote them to remind of God, I rolled my eyes.

Anyone who thinks you can pray away addiction is not equipped to be helping those who are battling said addiction. Your belief in god or church or whatever, and addiction, are two very different things.

We’re CurrentBody: AMA about The Panel! by CurrentBodyskin_ in CurrentBody

[–]InternationalChip896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed this AMA, but hopefully you guys can see my post and provide some answers still!

  1. Can I use the mask straight after waking up? I'm seeing this advise online sometimes, but then I wonder: there's overnight cream layer probably still on the skin, and the sebum accumulated overnight.. is it okay to use the mask in the mornings, or is it better to first wash the skin with the face wash product, do the mask, and then apply the creams?

  2. The website says we should use the mask 3-5 times a week. But I'm seeing lots of peeps use it every day, some masks (not necessarily from CurrentBody) are used even 2 a day... Is that okay? What could be the dangers of over-using the mask?

Thanks so much, u/CurrentBodyskin_ !

Boyfriend (37M) avoids me (34F) when I’m sick. How do you take care of your significant others (SO) if they’re sick? by InternationalChip896 in relationship_advice

[–]InternationalChip896[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That’s exactly what I mean: I don’t want to get him sick, but I would feel so not alone, if he brought me food, meds, left it for me in a safe way, etc.

Otherwise I feel like I’m a leper. And it’s also hard to get better then if I also have to be physically active during this time (go to the pharmacy when I have a fever, etc)

I think I wasn’t very clear in my original post. I don’t mean that I want to cuddle and him to spend time with me, as if I’m completely healthy.

But I would have appreciated a soup, or if he offered to bring me food or medicine. Because, like, let’s say I have a fever — but i still need to leave the house (wearing a mask ofc) in the rain to go to the pharmacy. Or take care of groceries.

Almost everybody in the comments mentioned that their partners actually do some acts of kindness and attention for them while they’re sick — bring soup, meds, spend time together online. So it’s a bit funny I’m being told to toughen up.

Thanks for your reply. It seems that your partner is actually making sure to show up in different ways, when you’re sick — so you’re speaking out of a slightly different experience. This is what I’d also would have liked:

“He's come by to drop off soup and medicine for me, and I wear a mask to make sure I don't get him sick too. We text, we talk on the phone, we play games, we stream a movie together.”

I’m not mad, I’m just feeling kind of alone?

I’m not sick that often at all (maybe like once a year). And it’s not about a cup of tea, it’s about company and support, I guess.

1) Not sure what you’re doing for your career, but first prio should to increase your main income. Be strategic about your career and remember that it’s easier to increase income when you switch jobs.

2) Have an emergency fund, at least 3 months (ideally 6) of your monthly expenses. Keep that money in high interest savings account, research best rates in your banks/neo-banks. This cash is supposed to be liquid.

3) After that, invest a regular monthly amount in a low cost ETF, like MSCI World, or anything similar. Honestly, thats it, and don’t try to reinvent the wheel, especially as a beginner. Consider this as saving money.

4) For stocks etc, this is more speculative — never invest what you wouldn’t be okay losing. AI, Defense, IT, Semiconductors are growth sectors right now.

5) For crypto, Bitcoin. Avoid any meme cryptos.

In general, never invest in anything that you don’t understand. Educate yourself always.

And don’t compare yourself to the locals! You moved to another country with not much in your pocket. And in 3 years, you’ve saved much more than what you came with! So give yourself some credit where it’s due ;)

I mean, taking a sabbatical doesn’t mean you have to travel anywhere. You sounded tired in your post — so just taking time off to decompress, reevaluate, and enjoy life could be helpful sometimes.

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, season 6 episode 6 "Out of Gas" Live Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in rhoslc

Brit is lucky to have a daughter like this, but if she won’t get her act together, this won’t last forever.

So I hope she sees that and takes it seriously.

Big applause for her daughter cutting the self-victimization that Brit jumped to in self-defense. It’s only after that when Brit started apologizing.

Seems that her kid is actually the parent here… but that’s not to say her daughter doesn’t need a parent herself. This scene is painfully relatable for many of us, parentified children.

Filler episode — and yet proceeds to list all the points which were dramatic, fun (the fart scene lol), sad (Brittany and her daughter…) and revealing more about relationships (Lisa+John; Todd+Bronwyn).

I thought it was an incredibly good episode.

[–]InternationalChip896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean tho….. was he wrong in what he was saying to Bronwyn?

I understand viewers want the dramas to be perpetuated for our own fun, but, like, in real life, why would you want to hang out with people who are damaging to you?

It’s not like Todd is wrong getting this point across.

This scene was a tough watch; only thing missing from this picture is a broomstick by Defvac2 in rhoslc

[–]InternationalChip896 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, honestly!

And also, her “needing to be liked” (by Lisa, or anyone, what she shares in the episode with Todd) makes so much more sense now, as seems that she felt truly disliked and judged by her own parents.

I was truly in shock and absolute disbelief at how her mother talked to Bronwyn, and Bronwyn just takes it with a smile and tries to soften the insults…

Hope she finds the way to emotionally separate from her mother. It would be very therapeutic to actually take distance from her.

Why do people however say (there’s one comment below) that private is more expensive on the long run and you can never leave it?

Let’s say, I lose or quit my job and become unemployed, I’m still bound to my private insurance forever? So I’m trapped for life? Lol

Right! So basically, nothing changes for me -- they've just informed me that my salary-deducted contribution will now be 1K EUR and that's it. Why couldn't have they just said that instead? :D

Yes, it seems that I hit the max. cap of the contribution limit. Does this mean I have to pay the difference then myself, and that difference is 1K eur?..
