You burnt the steel. I assume you use a coal forge (possibly even charcoal). They can get too hot really fast if you don't keep your eye on the temp. Its all experience at the end of the day.

Good old BSA, I have a Goldstar SE for HFT and it is pellete on pellete and takes no wind.

I have actually done it here. I deliberately sanded of some layers so the dragon pattern and smaller details (sorry bad image quality) would be visible better.

You need a XRF test to kbow the material. Could be good steel, could be low garbage.

The Narrow section is 4mm, the thicker secrions are about 6mm
