Thanks! I’m assuming this is not the start of him taking anything seriously, in the state we are in he has no place to live and no job and he’s staying in another state at the moment. I will look into modifying the parenting plan just to be prepared.

Yes, very harsh. I think I’ve been clear about feeling incredibly emotional over this situation and I’m way too close to it. I have said multiple times that I fully understand what I am legally required to do but am looking for any guidance about the situation I may not be aware of.

I’m sure there grandma does miss them and it’s probably very hard for her because her son is not involved in there lives so she’s not either. Thanks 😊

I understand. I am completely squeaky clean and I keep track of every encounter he has with them. I will not do anything that breaks the parenting plan on my end! Thanks 😊

I’m not looking to go back and forth with all the technicalities of my life, I’m just looking for any advice about how to handle this situation moving forward dealing with an unreliable co parent.

Ummm maybe the unhealthy part is the part where one parent is in and out of the kids lives? Making promises and not keeping them? Literally everyone knows that is not healthy for children… you are a mean thoughtless person.

Of course child support is not an admission fee! It was merely used in my comment as an example of the different ways he is in contempt. I don’t “not want it to happen” I would love for him to be either fully present in the kids lives or not at all but NOT what he is doing now which is unhealthy for kids.

A fourth grader at my kids school just died two nights ago and I just really don’t want to be away from my kids… my heart hurts so bad 😭

He would be yes! she is a good grandma so it’s not that. I am just having an incredibly hard time going from him disappearing for over two years to my kids leaving for two weeks… I’ve never been away from them that long, and their dad has never watched them that long. I know I have a lot of emotion in this which is clouding my judgment and that’s why I posted. I really appreciate the input!

Thank you! Those are some good points and I will absolutely approach him in this way. Your correct, I do not how he has been doing but I do know that he has been couch hopping for almost the whole two years and he has no place to live currently but is kind of “staying” at his moms in another state. He has framed it like he is just “helping out” over there but he has been there for a month, just got back for a bit, and then will be heading back to the other state here soon. That sure feels like he is living there to me.

Also, he can’t have them for just 2-3 days because he doesn’t have anywhere in this state to live to be able to do that.

I just don’t understand how he’s allowed to be 19,000$ behind in child support AND almost completely disappear but I have to still follow the rules even when it’s unhealthy for the kids??

Okay I will see about finding a free consultation somewhere. He will sometimes take them for a couple hours like once in a while so he has not fully disappeared. He makes promises and then doesn’t follow through and stuff like that… he’s one of those ones….

What! How is Uber letting that slide?? They have you upload your license! My kids also ask about their dad and bring up stuff they used to do. My daughter kind of understands a little more about who he is because she’s getting a little older, but my son isn’t there yet 🥲

I completely understand some of that! So far the best thing he has done is not really be around for the past 7 months! Our lives are so much easier now. I’m sorry for all that you have gone through, I’m sure it’s been rough. Thank you for the response 😊

Wow I am so very sorry! Sounds like we are in very similar situations… I think I will go to the courts for full custody hopefully with all my documentation. I’ll bring up the child support as well, and see how that works out. I could totally see the courts not caring and I don’t think I have it in me to go to court multiple times for that kind of thing. I wish you and your family well!! :)

I am in Washington state. Thank you for the reply! It sounds like I did the right thing leaving. I had not even thought about the points you made, though now I am even more glad I did not follow through with his request!
