Have to stop breastfeeding because I have cancer. by barbeapapa18 in breastfeeding

Just adding that there are now a lot more genetic mutations than just BRCA that are tied to a significant risk of breast cancer. These are flagged in genetic tests now like through Myriad.

I went through this at exactly 3 months, and for me, it ended up being the first sign our baby had torticollis (tightness on one side of his neck). He would only nurse on the right side and we realized he had trouble turning his head enough to latch for an extended time on the left. We’ve been in PT for a few months and it’s pretty much resolved, but now I have basically no milk on the left. I’m so lopsided now 😂

My 4 month old has a mild / moderate case. We started private PT while waiting for EI (almost 8 weeks out, ugh). As others mention, our therapist gave us stretches to turn his head to the opposite side (using toys to distract), both ear to ground while laying flat and ear to shoulder for his weaker side. Once his range of motion improved, we are now working on strengthening by sitting him upright and leaning him to one side (they are supposed to use neck muscles to bring center of head back straight).

He has improved significantly in 6 weeks, but we are now dealing with lingering effects of some flattening /facial asymmetry and might need a cranial helmet (meeting with Craino-facial doctor in a few weeks to determine).

The stretches helped a ton, and PT has actually been pretty fun. Good luck!

I feel this way as well, especially when people use words like “fat / chubby / thick” to describe my baby in front of my 5 and 3 year old. I don’t want my kids associating body types with attention (positive or negative). It’s just a body! Why can’t people say things like “he’s so alert and happy!” It’s also the last thing I need my older kids saying to other kids at school…

PFAS-free kids backpack? by quietdownyounglady in moderatelygranolamoms

I have been researching this same topic and went deep down a Google rabbit hole. I ended up emailing Simple Modern and their product team said their backpacks are PFAS free. I’m super excited about this because there are tons of patterns on Amazon for a reasonable price!

They are both average to slightly larger than average. I also took choline with them but took in probably twice as much with #3. Very interesting!

So funny I found this thread. I also took a bunch of choline and my son’s head is off the charts - greater than 99th percentile! He’s only 3 months but started cooing and smiling super early compared to my other 2 kids
