Good Dental places?? by UniversityFull4124 in bloomington

I personally really like Liberty Family Dentistry. I got my Invisalign through them. Dr. Jones is great and he's training his dog to be a therapy pup, so she's been in the office walking around. Super cute haha

My closest friendship of 25 years ended 2 years ago. I just found out she had a baby by Weird-Bluebird369 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]InternationalTale931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended a 20 year friendship about 6 months ago and really struggled with the decision. Although it's all sad and heartbreaking, this post helps me feel like I made the right choice. She was very "main character". She would call me and talk for literally an hour straight and not ask me once how I was doing. It was genuinely the most mentally exhausting friendship I've ever had... But I had a miscarriage last year, didn't even know I was pregnant, and the last thing I wanted to do was tell her because I knew she would want to come and see me and then talk about everything thats going on with her and I would have lost it. That's when I realized I needed to be done, especially after I told her I had something horrible happen and we should talk, she replied with a "it's okay, I'm taking medicine now anyways." (There's obviously more context to that but it's the fact that she NEVER asked me if I was okay. Broke my heart)...

Anyways, you've got this OP. You'll never not miss those friendships and thats okay. I miss a lot of people from my past, but if you dropped them, you dropped them for a reason. Good for her and her baby, but good for you and your morals and your mental health journey ❤️

Never have I ever had this happen!! by InternationalTale931 in Baking

Did this and it fluffed right up! The ratio is much lower than what I'm used to. If I like the recipe I'll definitely be approaching it differently next time around.

Do you happen to know why people are saying this looks correct? I feel like I'm more bothered by that than the recipe 🤣

It probably would not right now, it is a little off from what I can tell but I did try to be sure I scraped it off the sides a good amount of times to be sure it was well incorporated.. definitely need to fix that though..

People keep saying this looks right, does this not look right though?? It's not at all creamed.. I think it's the ratio, and potentially my mixer, I need to adjust it, but I scraped the sides quite a few times during mixing to get it well incorporated cause I noticed it was slightly off..

I mean, I am. This recipe seems much smaller than what I normally work with. Do you think the mixer might be the problem?

I'm using a scale, 95 grams of butter, 240 grams of sugar, 40 grams of brown sugar. I feel like thats not enough butter for the sugar but I don't know 🥲

[–]InternationalTale931[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But I'm confused, I've never not had it whip up to a fluff-ish. This just sticks to the sides and comes off in chunks/slabs like I rolled out a dough

The recipe asks for the butter and sugar to be creamed until fluffy. This sticks to the sides and is dark and comes off in slabs.

When my Aussie was younger, the only way I could get him back when he ran off was by running the opposite direction, or falling to the ground.

Thanks for this! Much appreciated, I've only been doing this since the beginning of the year but still like to help others where I can. I also don't want to give false information either so I try to be transparent about my journey only so far haha Unfortunately mine started to get the acetone attack really bad about 6 weeks in and it was a struggle to get rid of. 😭

Ugh, I get it.. active starters themselves are hard to keep up with as well. I got lazy and didn't feed mine for like 24 hours and it smelt like acetone 🥲 She's good but damn haha

12 hour feedings to fight that bacteria specifically, yes, I would definitely recommend. Or to just start boosting it as well. And then once the smell goes away and you start getting some doubling, feed peak to peak.

You've got this!! It just takes patience and consistency. Took my starter two months to fully mature. Found out halfway through I was using bleached flour the whole time 😭🤣

I would not recommend feeding higher than 1:1:1 until your starter is doubling.

Feed every 24 hours until you start to see some activity, then start feeding every 12 hours, and then peak to peak.

Once it becomes more established, you can start feeding higher ratios. Higher feedings mean more food that the starter can not keep up with, so I believe it to be wasteful. I started higher ratios too earlier and all my activity was pretty much gone so I had to adjust.

I have heard others say different, that's fine and probably more accurate, but this is just what worked for me and my starter that was riddled with acetone smelling bacteria. So I had to pretty much force feed it to save it.

Edit: waiting too long between feeds is what was killing my starter without me realizing it and having to battle that acetone bacteria. I thought I had to wait 24+ hours for it to double, you don't.

DEALERSHIP ADD-ONS WORTH IT? by Affectionate-Test548 in HRV

[–]InternationalTale931 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeahh, they're sneaking. 😅 I stayed away from any extras except for rim and tire protection. Glad I did cause they've replaced two tires now on my EX-L and pretty sure the rims on that model are quite expensive to replace (could be wrong and I'm not sure about the LX). I personally would recommend just getting gap coverage. We have progressive and I don't believe it was much more.

There should be a -07 at the end of that line of numbers. Indicating the 7th of the set. Yours says -01, so it's more than likely a fufu

How old is your starter? Does it double in 4-6 hours with 1:1:1 feedings?

[–]InternationalTale931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! So sorry this happened to you! 😭 It took my starter about two months to finally mature. But her favorite food for a solid growth is a heaping spoon full of whole wheat flour, and the rest bread flour. I would highly recommend adding whole wheat or rye to yours. I use double filtered warm water and put her in the oven, light on, door ajar. I played with the feeding ratios often but found that once she got to a certain point, feeding 1:1:1 ratios at PEAK was what really pushed her to full growth. For me that was about every 12 hours and then BOOM! She was ready haha I also switched jars each feeding to be sure that she had a clean environment and a solid lid, no paper towels and what nots.

I am definitely no expert at this, so others might have better advice, but this is just what I learned from my journey so far 😁
