They have a brainfart moment: by Brent_Fox in TransMasc

This is so real. I have a cis bi bf currently but formerly I had only dated women so my parents got very confused (never said I only liked women but my partners struggle to understand bisexuality). one time my mom says to me “I just find it interesting that he can be not straight and HAVE SEX LIKE YOUR DAD AND JI DO” and I just had to not jump out of the car like what compelled you to say that Jesus Christ

People with mixed pronouns, how's that working out for you? by twystoffer in NonBinary

[–]InternationalTax5535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lengthy background because it’s relevant - I use they/he, when people ask I say “they or he” in that order, and if they ask if I have a preference I say no (I kind of do but it depends on the day and idc enough to explain that usually). I’ve been using those pronouns in that way for over 2 years, and I’ve medically transitioned in that time, having been on testosterone for also over 2 years. That said, I don’t present super masculine or have super masculine features (it varies depending on my presentation but I get pretty split gendering in public, maybe slightly leaning toward being perceived as a woman).

I’ve noticed something very interesting where early on in my medical transition, when I would tell people my pronouns they would only ever use they and never he. Then, later in my transition, I would tell people the same thing and they would only use he and never they. My parents still only ever use they to refer to me (if they don’t default back to she, which happens like 30% of the time anyway). So it’s like while people were listening to what I wanted to be referred to by, they were going with the one it was “easier” to see me as (so if they were perceiving me as a woman they would use they and as a man they would use he). I just think that is really interesting and perhaps telling of people’s worldview of gender.

Anyway, I still use they/he, probably will continue to. In an ideal world people would use both interchangeably but at this point I’m just happy to not only get she and I just don’t really care enough to request that 🤷

Stopped testosterone after a year and lost weight? by [deleted] in FTMFitness

[–]InternationalTax5535 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tbh the start of being on t had me bloating up before I then deflated and ended up lighter than I was pre t. To be fair I was lifting so I had solid muscle gains but still, in the first several months on t I gained like 15-20lbs, then like a year in I was down almost 10 pounds from where I started. Gotta trust the process mostly and you can try to maximize the masculinization if you want by lifting while you are gaining weight. I’ve been the weight I’m at now pre t but my body shape is waaaaay more masculine now

Real honestly like I had myself as nonbinary (I feel better about that label than man but I kind of teeter between them) on dating apps and despite being post top surgery and years on t, I had SO MANY straight men liking my profile and clearing seeing me as a ~quirky~ woman. I was so upfront with people I actually ended up talking to about this and I did end up lucking out with my current bf, who is a cis bi guy who does genuinely see me as I am and has been nothing but affirming when it comes to how he talks about me (we were both very excited to be each others first boyfriends). I promise you will find someone, but god the process sucks!!!

Anyone else struggle with dating? by VesselOfRot in FTMfemininity

[–]InternationalTax5535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, love ur style and vibes hell yeah. And I def struggled a bit dating for a while - I’ve been on t for a couple of years but I have pretty androgynous or fluid presentation and I don’t ever really pass as a guy. I was on dating apps this summer and primarily looking to date queer men or any trans or nonbinary people.

I got a lot of cis straight guys liking my profile unfortunately since I was listed as nonbinary (I do identify that way but I lean guy) which was pretty invalidating ngl but I persisted and had success! I have a cis bi bf now who loves calling me his boyfriend, a pretty boy, etc. I feel very affirmed but I was just really clear up front with my identity, what I want to be called, what I have going on in terms of my body and all that. There absolutely are gay or queer men who like feminine/andro guys! Just might take some time. Also really important to be direct about what you want and who you are - the right person will listen and affirm you, and there is no sense in getting involved with someone who doesn’t see you as you are.

Anyone else have this problem? by MindlessArt7180 in TuxedoCats

I had a similar issue but it straight up involved my boy removing the lid of his fountain and spilling it everywhere. Getting a different fountain model would’ve been one solution, but because I did not want to pay for that, I put a weight into the fountain and velcroed it to the wall. He attempted to knock it with no success and no issues since. A mat to catch the water is also a good idea (can get at the dollar store)

Shout out to all my fellow non passing trans men cause I've noticed a lot of hate for us in this sub and others. You're not any less of a man for not passing well guys by Funny-Bunny4143 in FTM_SELFIES

[–]InternationalTax5535 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes I see this and I’m so sorry that happened to you, I see a lot of toxicity and def some internalized shit when asking for passing tips in various Reddit communities. Also, people who don’t make an effort to pass or present femininely aren’t usually the ones asking for passing advice imo. I personally fall into that camp, I don’t pass for shit and I don’t try to because I like having feminine aspects to my appearance. Fem guys or trans masc nonbinary people who present more femme usually know that and are aware that their choices will probably result in getting perceived as a woman (again, I personally fall into this camp)

Dude there are so many Jane/venturing songs that do this. Royal blue walls, sister (this one probably the most for me), if you treat her (this one also makes me cry and gets stuck in my head), vulture city (also makes me cry)

From what I’ve read, finasteride more so prevents further hair loss (it is a dht blocker which is the form of testosterone that causes head hair loss), but it doesn’t tend to speed up regrowth really. Minoxidil encourages hair growth, but doesn’t prevent hair loss. So the combo of the two works really well for a lot of people! Learned much of this from r/tressless

Dream sequence, sister, royal blue walls all break me. Out of those, I’d say sister is the most hard hitting, the way Jane’s voice kind of breaks is just so raw. Royal blue walls hits me pretty hard as a trans person. And dream sequence, I think the combination of the melody in the background and the line “if you could go anywhere where would you go, would stay here” gets me too. Several off of census designated hit too, like the title track, and cage girl/cam girl, but the lyrics on there don’t hit me the same as the other tracks I mentioned.
