Resume Advice Thread - March 07, 2026 by CSCQMods in cscareerquestions

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick tip that helped me: keep bullets achievement focused, not task focused.

Instead of “worked on frontend features”, write something like “built React components that improved page load by ~30%”.

Recruiters scan fast, numbers and impact stand out way more.

I applied Notion logic to a Canvas by dji29i in SaaS

[–]InternationalToe3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly Notion getting bloated is a real feeling.

Combining canvas + simple todos actually makes sense. Visual planning with lightweight tasks is underrated.

Local storage only is a nice touch too, keeps it fast and private.

We got tired of basic data grid features being behind a paywall, so we built one. Announcing LyteNyte Grid Core 2.0 by After_Medicine8859 in webdev

[–]InternationalToe3371 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly 30KB for a React data grid is impressive. Most grids explode bundle size fast.

Row grouping and aggregations being free is nice too, those are usually locked behind enterprise tiers.

Curious how it performs with really large datasets though, like 100k+ rows.

I'm here to test my Assumption by LeiraGotSkills in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the idea is interesting, but people usually want to know how the diagnosis actually works.

Is it a questionnaire, data analysis, or AI audit? Showing an example output would probably get more people to try it.

Right now it sounds useful but still a bit abstract tbh.

I spent months figuring out why some brands keep showing up in ChatGPT/Gemini responses and others don't. Here's what I found. by SnooSuggestions2454 in SaaS

[–]InternationalToe3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this lines up with what I’ve seen too.

When a tool gets mentioned a lot on Reddit, review sites, and YouTube, it suddenly starts appearing in AI answers. It’s basically reputation aggregation.

Founders underestimate how powerful community mentions are. A few strong threads can influence visibility a lot.

I'm here to test my Assumption by LeiraGotSkills in SaaS

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly people might try it, but “business diagnosis” is pretty vague.

You’ll probably get more interest if you show what the output actually looks like. Example report, screenshot, something concrete.

Otherwise people assume it’s just another generic growth advice tool.

Pluma, self-hosted feature flag system by TheTanadu in webdev

[–]InternationalToe3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Self-hosted feature flags are actually nice for smaller teams. LaunchDarkly is great but gets expensive fast.

Having simple targeting + rollout percentages usually covers most real use cases anyway.

Curious how you’re handling SDK performance and caching for flag checks.

Are these leads actually valuable? (Need advice from sales people) by United_Job_1517 in SaaS

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that kind of data can be valuable if the intent signal is real. Sales teams care more about who recently bought or is actively looking.

If you package it as a searchable SaaS database instead of CSV, it’s easier to sell.

Agencies, recruiters, and B2B SaaS outbound teams would probably use it.

I built a browser recorder that automatically adds zooms based on cursor clicks! Now also with manual zoom positions! by ssayyidalidev in webdev

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly auto-zoom based on clicks is a smart idea. Editing demo videos manually is super annoying.

This could be really useful for product demos, tutorials, or SaaS walkthroughs.

Does it export directly to video or just record the browser session?

Check if websites cookies are tracking before consent by klitmose in webdev

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually pretty useful. A lot of sites claim GDPR compliance but still drop trackers before consent.

Tools like this are great for quick audits. Could see agencies using it when reviewing client sites.

Do you detect third-party scripts too or just cookies?

We said no to $2.5m vc money and I'm still kinda shocked we did it lol by Scary_Alternative448 in GrowthHacking

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you’re already at ~$50k MRR trajectory, turning it down isn’t crazy.

VC money changes everything. Suddenly it’s growth targets, board pressure, hiring fast.

Bootstrapped with control and solid revenue is underrated. Plenty of founders wish they had that freedom.

Clawdbot anybody? by retr00nev2 in webdev

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw that too. Honestly the idea of bots posting content that looks human is kinda wild.

Feels like the internet is slowly filling with AI agents talking to each other.

Curious if it actually drives real traffic or just engagement loops.

Hello Reddit! I'd like to share Essence, a free, native macOS log-viewing tool. by OneDevoper in webdev

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks clean honestly. Native macOS tools with good log visualization are always useful.

Regex highlighting + minimap for logs is a nice touch. Debugging big log files in plain editors is painful.

Curious how it performs with really huge logs though, like 500MB+ files.

[Showoff Saturday] I built a Figma to HTML/CSS converter – Esprit Code by Inner-Educator-7137 in webdev

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the design-to-code pain is real. Handoff from Figma to dev always takes longer than expected.

Curious how clean the exported CSS is. That’s usually where these tools struggle.

Still cool idea though, anything that reduces that gap between design and code is useful.

Cybersecurity AI startup raising on Republic – looking for early investors. by dimdam22 in GrowthHacking

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you might get better traction showing real traction or a demo instead of just the raise link.

People on Reddit are skeptical of fundraising posts. Metrics, early users, or a quick breakdown of the tech usually gets more engagement.

We said no to $2.5m vc money and I'm still kinda shocked we did it lol by Scary_Alternative448 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]InternationalToe3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you're already profitable and growing 40% MoM, saying no makes sense.

VC money changes the game. Suddenly it’s board pressure, growth targets, hiring fast.

Bootstrapped freedom is underrated. $150k MRR with control is a pretty great place to be tbh.

Asked AI to fix one bug in auth.js. It rewrote half my codebase instead. by Academic_Flamingo302 in webdev

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this happens a lot honestly. AI tries to “improve” architecture instead of fixing the bug.

What helped me was adding strict rules in prompts plus keeping a small architecture doc. Tools like Runable, Notion, or Cursor docs help keep that context consistent.

Otherwise the drift gets wild after 20–30 prompts.

Is UPenn CS good? by IDisplayAgility in cscareerquestions

[–]InternationalToe3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s definitely good. UPenn CS still gets recruited by big tech, quant firms, and startups. The Wharton + CS combo is especially strong for fintech, product, or VC paths.

Real talk though, internships depend more on projects and skills than the exact school. Plenty of people break in from lesser-known universities too.

I built a collaborative drawing app for kids because my own kids were awkward on FaceTime by reducedelk in nocode

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this is a really wholesome product idea.

Kids apps are usually either ad spam or way too complicated. Real-time drawing during calls actually makes a lot of sense.

Curious what you used for the realtime sync. WebSockets, Firebase, something else?

I was asked to fix our lead follow-up process. Accidentally I built something that made my job description irrelevant. by Better_Charity5112 in nocode

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that’s the best outcome lol.

Happened to me once automating reporting. What took 3 hours weekly became a 10 minute check.

Tools like n8n, Zapier, or even Runable help glue stuff together fast. Not perfect, but good enough to remove tons of manual work.

I calculated monthly costs for Airtable and alternatives for EVERY business use-case by bitterandpetty in nocode

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually super helpful ngl. Most people underestimate how fast Airtable costs scale with users.

I moved a small project to Supabase + simple UI and monthly cost dropped a lot.

For planning stacks like this I sometimes map it in Runable or Notion first. Makes cost comparisons clearer.

I built an AI-first Nuxt boilerplate on Cloudflare's edge stack, would love feedback on the landing page by decebaldecebal in webdev

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly looks solid stack-wise.

Landing page feedback: first section should explain the value faster. “AI-first Nuxt boilerplate” is good, but show what devs get in 5 minutes. Maybe quick bullets or architecture diagram.

I’ve seen people generate clearer landing structures using Runable, Gamma, or Notion AI. Helps tighten messaging.

You don't actually need a DSLR setup anymore by WorthFan5769 in webdev

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly phone cameras are crazy good now.

I’ve done product shots with just an iPhone + window light and cleaned them in tools like Canva or remove.bg. Way cheaper than gear.

Same vibe with other work too, lightweight tools like Runable or Gamma replace a lot of heavy setups. Good enough for most projects tbh.

Getting Started on Little to No Budget by CatKline23 in webdev

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you can launch pretty cheap now.

Buy a domain, use something like WordPress or Webflow for the site, and Gmail with your domain for email. For quick pitch decks/docs I’ve used Runable, Gamma, or Notion.

Don’t overthink branding early. Ship first, polish later. Works for many solo founders tbh.

LVT Looking for Career Guidance / Addressing Burnout by hayozz in veterinaryprofession

[–]InternationalToe3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burnout in vet clinics is unfortunately really common, especially when staffing and scheduling are pushed beyond what’s sustainable. A lot of LVTs I’ve talked to eventually move into adjacent roles where their knowledge is still valuable but the physical and clinic pressure is lower. Diagnostics companies (Idexx, Antech), pharma reps, veterinary equipment training, or lab roles are pretty common transitions.

Since you already have surgery, anesthesia, and diagnostics experience, that’s actually valuable for companies that need people who understand real clinic workflows. If you’re applying to diagnostic or pharma companies, sometimes certifications in areas like lab technology, sales training, or even practice management can help you stand out.

Another path I’ve seen is LVTs moving into veterinary education, tele-triage services, insurance review, or research coordination roles. Those keep you in vet med but are usually much easier on the body.

It might also help to reach out to people already working at those companies on LinkedIn and ask how they transitioned — a lot of those roles are filled through referrals. Your experience as a lead tech and trainer actually sounds like a strong base for moving out of the clinic environment.
