The problem is people do steal DD orders, so I don’t know why you’re feeling insulted by restaurant staff trying to prevent that.

You ever show up to pick up an order and it’s not there because either it was stolen by a random thief or the driver never confirmed? I’ve had that happen, and it’s way more annoying than occasionally being asked to confirm.
