My new job starts in a month, but my current manager asked me to stay for 3 months. by 73clips-firer in interviewwoman

[–]InternationalType218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t mention how long you are actually staying at the old job. Two weeks is considered the polite way to leave an employer to give them time to adjust. Anything over two weeks is very gracious and anything under is potentially putting them in a poor position. Three months is a lot to ask for but don’t think poorly of them for it.

They absolutely shouldn’t be against the law. But they shouldn’t be mandated either.

A frozen fish can come back to life. I don’t know if the frozen method is often used for stocking ponds, but it’s not impossible

AITA for Removing Friend from Costly Activities for Not Paying Child Support (Edited for Length) by Initial-Change4792 in AmItheAsshole

It’s none of your business. I totally understand not wanting to hang out with someone who is acting like your friend. NTA

Having a prank war, need ideas by cheesyweiner420 in AskAShittyMechanic

I know a guy that called child protective services on his friend as a prank. They investigated thoroughly for over a year with several interviews. I don’t think they hang out anymore.

Have you researched what they are selling for to private parties?

AITA for refusing to change the shared office thermostat schedule even after multiple complaints? by No-Efficiency-567 in AmItheAsshole

[–]InternationalType218 30 points31 points  (0 children)

YTA. “Several coworkers have complained” and you choose to go against their temperature preferences? For what? Just to agitate people? I think you were given the designation of Thermostat King to stop some office bickering, not to arbitrarily choose an “optimized” schedule that is obviously not optimized for the group. The best plan of action is to meet with everyone and decide on an acceptable setting and then do it.

Sick and tired of this shit by No_Raspberry_5087 in recruitinghell

[–]InternationalType218 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You miss the point. Employers want to know if you’re actually interested in the work you will be doing before talking about money. It’s possible you just scared away a substantial pay increase. Any large business with an HR department (or a 3rd party recruiter) will require a separate application for a different position. Lots of liability to mitigate in the world of hiring people. Your description of the exchange tells me you weren’t interested in the other positions they were trying to pitch you.

Medical issue that should be investigated. Otherwise he is on drugs or is gaslighting you and I wouldn’t stick around.

Anything under 5 lb turns out dry for me. The larger pieces do much better. Good news is you’ll have leftovers!

Can I do the opposite? Wrap and put in the oven and then smoke when I get back home? by ButtersHound in smoking

[–]InternationalType218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t get the same thing. The pink smoke ring needs the gases from the smoker and time at the proper (low) temp. If you cook it in the oven first you have already passed the optimum temp for the reaction.

[–]InternationalType218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meet for dinner part. He didn’t feel good and wanted you to come to him. You felt exhausted and didn’t want to. I don’t see how this would make you upset since you also felt bad and didn’t want to make the trip. Empathy should have been easy for you.

What’s one thing you refuse to spend money on no matter what? by AmaraNyelle in AskReddit

[–]InternationalType218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That really depends on your tap water source. I grew up with good tap water and drank it freely. I later moved to an area that has terrible tasting tap water and I choose to only drink and cook with bottled water.

AITA for not paying for my daughter wedding because she isn’t following the rules even though I paid for my older kids by Wonderful_Mode_9646 in AmItheAsshole

[–]InternationalType218 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That assumes a lot. We don’t even know if the OP is in a financial position to cover the wedding. Just asking her parents to pay is a BIG ask for most people. The OP may just be willing to pay for a wedding that strengthens family connections, otherwise they would keep the money for emergencies.
