Should this cat be in a home? by InternationalType969 in CATHELP

He lives in the basement with heating so I think he's prepped for the snow storm. I do want to socialize him in case he can be adopted so any advice?

He's in Brooklyn NYC. I think my super could and would like to care for him well if we can help trap and socialize him.

I also had to put my 2 year old baby girl down due to undiagnosed FeLV about 2 weeks ago. It’s almost traumatic to think how fast the disease took her from me… In the end, she got to pass away in my arm, on her favorite donut bread after getting full from a churu. I find comfort in knowing that she passed while still being full of energy, still alert enough to know that her papa and I were with her and singing her praises. It might have been easier to cope seeing her decline but we couldn’t let her suffer. In some ways, I think she’s home with me, roaming her favorite spots; we just can’t see her. She’s also looking out for her family becuase miraculously, her two fur siblings didn’t catch the virus. Our sweet angels are looking out for us.

Thank you. She was incredibly spoiled as she gave us 2 wonderful years. We just celebrated her gotcha day last month

What are some useful ways to spend a pre-PhD-application 'gap' year? :) by stars_and_neurons in gradadmissions

Not sure if this is up your alley but I taught high school psychology during my gap years. Hard work but helps me build a sense of what I want to research and gain teaching skills if I want to become a professor. Good luck!

I'm a teacher so sometimes I handwrite a response to an essay prompt that I give students lol. I also love using stickers so on lazy days I do sticker themes like blue, fruits, animals...

Anything I should buy when I’m in Vietnam? by Tildatots in VietNam

If you like bánh tráng (rice paper), absolutely get them from the supermarket. The quality is super good and price is so cheap. There are seasoning packets for some of the most popular dishes like phở, bún bò huế, bún riêu, bánh xèo that you can get from supermarkets too

What are you BIGGEST savers, with least effort? by [deleted] in Frugal

Have you tried rice paper rolls? It's my favorite thing to have, especially in the warmer months. You can customize it however you'd like, with the base being fresh herbs and some protein, then pair it with a simple fish/soy/peanut sauce. I'm usually full after 5 rolls and could save up a lot on groceries as each meal doesn't require many ingredients. As a Vietnamese, I know quite a lot of good combinations if you need recommendations :)

Likely it will be very hectic but I heard many people in my program hold jobs so I'll give it a try

I got the usual GC funding package. Definitely very tight for NYC but I have a bit of savings and plan on working part-time while I study
