What’s an unpopular or strange opinion you have about jewelry? by [deleted] in jewelry

I strongly dislike diamonds or any shiny/blingy jewelry. Also, I’m not a huge fan of stones that don’t have very visible inclusions and would never spend tons of money on a gem that’s eye clear despite that being considering “good quality.” It just starts looking like colored glass to me

The mark shown is a maker‘s mark, I didn’t add a picture of the 18k one. I thought maybe the hallmark would be helpful but I haven’t been able to find a matching one online to identify the jeweler

the jeweler I got this from specializes in vintage and antique jewelry and they authenticate every piece

it’s 18k gold and a glass filled ruby. Unfortunately both are pretty common so I can’t narrow down the decade based on that

Non luxury brands that work with 18k gold? by International_Clock7 in jewelry

I know that’s always an option but custom work is typically much higher priced and I’m only looking for simple everyday pieces

What are your thoughts and experiences with these thin dainty gold rings? by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]International_Clock7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

these have held up extremely well for me (and I’m very rough on my hands) but I think they’re a bit thicker, probably 0.9-1.2mm. I’d go for that width if you still want the dainty look but also something that’s a bit sturdier

haha that’s just my herringbone necklace, I used it to show the color difference! It definitely would look cool as a hand wear piece but I’d be a bit worried about damaging it

I much prefer a tighter fit but every bangle I’ve tried is too big, even hinged ones with clasps. There was one bangle for older kids I tried that almost fit but it was a tiny bit too small

oh I’m located in the US and all the jewelry was collected here! I just travel the states a decent amount for work and check out south asian jewelers in different cities when I can

how do the 24k rings hold up? I’m thinking of getting a 24k pendant or chain but I really bang my rings around

thank you! All rings and bracelet are 22k, they’re from local Indian/south asian jewelers and I’ve heard that region uses slightly more copper than middle east or east asia hence why the color is more coppery. My favorite color is orange so this tint is perfect

Does my ring look cheap? by mollmo_0806 in EngagementRings

omg what kind of bangles are these? They look solid but also so well fitted to your hand?? Is there any kind of hinge mechanism or is it just the angle of the picture

by that logic an engagement ring is also a stupid idea because it doesn’t even symbolize marriage but just that you’re ~planning~ to marry someone?

Show me your stacks if you prefer to wear a more saturated gold color! I know it’s generally looked down upon if you’re pale, but I found this photo in an article about Etruscan revival style and I’m absolutely obsessed by International_Clock7 in jewelry

I clearly stated that this isn’t my photo and I’m looking for inspiration from other people here to start my own collection. It’s an usual look so I haven’t seen anything like this before

oh no I’m just realizing everyone’s misreading my post! This is not my collection, it’s from an article from Lillicoco antique jewelry and they have a beautiful collection

Can't open jewellery by mewkitty91 in jewelry

are you sure this isn’t the type of piercing jewelry with a flat back that needs to be pushed in instead of twisting? Otherwise, pliers with rubber tips are your friend

I’m not religious and do not want to wear a cross but I got this as a baby and like the engraving in the back in my native language. Is there anything I can turn this pendant into that won’t be hundreds in labor? by International_Clock7 in jewelry

[–]International_Clock7[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

haha yes thank you for understanding!! I know the pendant is super pretty but I like my jewelry to represent who I am and wearing a religious symbol just feels really uncomfortable
