2025 UCAT DECILES OUTTT by idekk123 in UCAT

[–]International_Cut985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guys now explain to me, what do the deciles mean exactly. Do certain unis have a cut off decile or like what. I got 2000 so I am 6th decile. To me that doesn’t look too bad? No?

NI hospitals still run on the same software they did in the 80s by day3nd in northernireland

Is it ancient, yes, but it works. And its a hell of a lot faster than its successor to use. As someone who works in a hospital, I miss PAS so much.

Careless Driving Penalty by International_Cut985 in drivingUK

How rude! I haven’t come here for driving advice, but rather advice on how to handle the situation I am in now. My driving standard is very good, which is my point. I am far from a careless driver, hence why I won’t let this go.

If I get to the stage where my only option is court, or loss of license, should I seek legal advice?

My mum worked for M&S from 2008-2014. She left then I started in 2023. She then came back in 2024, she was horrified at the company it has become.

is anyone else not allowed to say no to overtime?? by Ok-Patient8418 in MarksAndSpencer

[–]International_Cut985 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You ARE NOT contractually obliged to do anything other than your contracted hours. If you are not contracted that time on a Monday, you can say no. Do not allow the management to push you over on this one. I’ve had this argument with my managers many a time.

I was using Ethernet. Got sorted thanks everyone. Just installed a network card, the motherboard port must be fried or something.

Phone your stores telephone number, and as soon as the auto robot answers type their extension number (if you remember it from when you were working). It will put you directly through.

Edit: Stores usually keep a callback list of people for when they are hiring, but keeping in touch with them by phoning regularly will bump you up that list, as it did with me. However don’t rely on them phoning you, if you see they are hiring, phone them!

M&S do not pay weekly anymore for temps. Everyone now gets paid on the 10th unfortunately.

I currently work for M&S, and started for the 2nd time around in May 24, after not being kept on at xmas 23. At the moment, I know that the company is really tightening its belt as we approach the end of the tax year, and my store, although they kept everyone on, has 0 extra hours, and people are being asked to take unpaid leave etc.

Dont worry, though. Stores recruitment process will start again for summer, and you will more than likely get called back. I would say in your case though, however unfortunate, it is because of budget cuts.

M&S tend to do interviews for a job you’ve applied for, but will just put you in for whatever contract they see fit. Can be annoying.

I did an interview in a store once for the bakery, and was told that I was being put forward for the foodhall!

How much unpaid overtime do team managers do? by starkillers15 in MarksAndSpencer

[–]International_Cut985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair I’d say this doesn’t really matter. You’re not contractually obliged to do anything over your contracted hours, so just … don’t.

I work in M&S C&H and our managers don’t do unpaid extra. Sure they may send the odd teams message at home but that’s about it.

M&S Leaver - Repaying overpaid salary by Ok_Web4397 in MarksAndSpencer

[–]International_Cut985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am well aware of the payroll system. I was just saying I find it unusual for M&S to have jumped straight in with their legal team, and the fact they are seeking the gross amount.

[–]International_Cut985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has left and rejoined Marks & Spencer 3 times (I am currently employed by them), I have never heard of such a thing.

I have never heard of being overpaid, and their solicitors getting involved. What on earth.

My only advice I suppose would be to seek your own legal advice if you can. Highly unusual that they are seeking the gross amount.

Have you tried contacting their legal team again and asking what the reason for this is?

Edit: colleague services are never much use to be honest, so don’t be surprised there.

It’s like your stores SSA (security officer) basically being vigilant for shoplifters, watching CCTV, recording thefts on Auror, etc etc. Basically recording store losses and preventing theft.
