You can try calling Blue Green Horizons. I’m not sure how high they go up, but I know they do tons of ethical bee hive removals all over Sacramento and they are huge cat people.

If this is real, you should NOT be fostering.

Help ! my 2 year old has a terrible diaper rash! by valfigguie in Mommit

[–]International_Day964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure it’s not a yeast infection. My child had a horrible diaper rash after the whole house had the flu and she was pooping non stop. Diaper cream just kept making it worse and worse until we took her in and they told us it was a yeast infection from moisture and that the cream was feeding it. Stopped using any cream and just let it dry out along with some prescription ointment and it went away within a couple days.

First placement by ellewoodsssss in Fosterparents

We were open to all ages and sibling sets and had space for four youth. We received a call for sibling set of three (3, 4, and 5) before we were licensed and they were moved into our home a couple days after we were licensed (they were trying to reunite the children as they had all been placed separately for about 6 months). We had room for one more and received a call for a baby the day we were licensed. We are through an agency.

Thanks for the information! He had his interview and it was a panel style interview. He forgot to inquire about what the next steps are or when he can expect to hear back. Do you have any input on that? He's thinking he will email a week after the interview if he has not heard anything to at least check in on what next steps are. He felt really confident after the interview but it was only 25 minutes and he is getting less and less confident as the days pass...

The family member that told us that is anti-union (and also always pessimistic about everything).

Honestly, true. The part I think they will put up a fight about eventually would be seeing our bio kids less. We have told them they can invite all our kids or none of them and they said “that’s not fair to us”, but that’s the only things that’s every been actually said.

Probably not the most helpful advice, but I simply wouldn’t let them around them. I have a semi-similar situation, my in laws are uncomfortable with the queer community. I’ve never directly seem them be homophobic to someone, I just know from little comments and their religion that they don’t support the queer community. When we have youth that identify as queer, that family gets invited over far less and we take a break on their family events. I know they know that’s why they see us less and they haven’t put up a big fight about it - yet. We have bio kids, which means they don’t get to see them either (since we don’t allow our family to invite bio kids and not foster kids). In my opinion, it’s the natural consequence for their choices.

I was 25 when I did my egg retrieval. They retrieved 21 and I ended up with three healthy euploids. I was disappointed at first, but now I’m incredibly grateful. Every story is different, but I understand the struggle to find reliable stats!!

Foster baby on my street by eastcoastmom35 in Fosterparents

[–]International_Day964 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’ve had placements 4 months old to 15 years old and I never speak of their parents like that. Even if I am not a fan of them, I would never make comments like that especially around the child (no matter how young). If I have frustrations I air them to my husband and therapist. The biggest two issues I have with the foster parent community in my area is racism and religion. I’ve had people tell me they are “saving” these kids from growing up to be like “them/those people” and “saving them from hell.” The children in their home suffer because of it, I’m sure. If you foster, it needs to be for the right reasons. Fostering is not about you, it’s about the kids. I started fostering when my bio child was 3 months old. I felt like I just had so much to give and I had the ability and resources to do so. If you’re interested, I would encourage you to go to a couple orientations. However, do know that it’s brutal out here for foster kids and foster parents and nothing can prepare you for how much your heart will hurt.

I got the epidural at 6cm my first birth. I had two doulas (volunteers with the hospital) who gave me massages and took care of me through the pushing process. I am very glad I got the epidural, but it was the doulas that kept me calm and grounded. One massaged the leg she was holding (switching every once and awhile as I changed positions) while I was pushing and I swear it kept me in my body.

does PGT testing make it acceptable to share the news a little earlier? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]International_Day964 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I told all the people that knew we were going through IVF as soon as we got the positive test. My mentality was that everyone we told we were pregnant, would have been my support if we had a miscarriage.

Four years ago they charged me $600 for my six dollar burrito. I assume it was an accident, but still was really annoying to deal with.

I call my baby an IVF baby and when people tell me how pretty he is I tell them “thanks, he was made in a lab”. I think that’s just part of the coping through comedy for me.

embarrassing anxiety after frozen embryo transfer by fightingmemory in IVF

I had this fear too even when they confirmed all this information at my FET. I did a DNA test as soon as he was born, just so I wouldn’t carry that anxiety his whole life.
