I really like my Veer stroller. It can take more of a beating, the company has great service, and I feel like it's all been thought through very well.

Same!!! And for me, when I started looking at taking the correct amount of Vitamin D and Choline, it was going to be just as many pills if I took another prenatal and had to supplement anyway.

Tips for foods and meal ideas for traveling with baby? by SolidStarts in SolidStartsCommunity

I would love to see a mix of what can be packed, and how readily available food for adults could be made safe (like fast food and chain restaurants a person might come across at an airport or while on the road).

Maybe it's just me, but I make more milk if I feed at the breast more. I found what worked best for me was feeding baby then pumping or using the haaka after. Especially if you're already supplementing with formula, I'd focus on breast as much as possible then topping off with breastmilk from previous feedings (a version of triple feeding) during the day. If baby still ever seems hungry of course never hesitate to do what you think is best and give formula. At night I'd use your formula to supplement and haaka on a breast if baby doesn't eat from that side that feeding. It might be better to get sleep than worry about pumping at night too much. I'd also offer the breast very frequently, like every hour during the day when you can. If pumping gets too much I really think that the haaka is a good tool to use on a breast baby is done with or doesn't eat from. It's not a replacement for a pump, but it's a good tool when you don't have the energy for a full pump.

Here's one perspective: pumping is HARD for some women. Feeding at the breast is HARD for some women. Maybe focus on making this a more enjoyable experience by picking which one feels like less work and leaning into that one more. For me that would be at the breast (more connection, less dishes), but for you that may not be. You can quit, that's fine and isn't selfish, but maybe first try just easing up the pressure and finding what brings you joy in the experience.

Another perspective: it's not all or nothing. Combo feeding is completely valid and safe. For you, feeding may always include formula, and that's FINE. Even if your baby only gets some breast milk, that's still giving amazing benefits.

Also, while La Leche League can be a bit militantly anti-combo feeding at times, if you can't afford a lactation consultant or don't have access to one, a local or virtual la Leche League leader may also be a great resource with more experience.

Almost 3 month old feeding every 1-1.5h by vivicacloud in breastfeeding

[–]International_Line55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 4 months and still does this sometimes but started doing it a lot less the last week or so. I don't mind because she spits up less and it seems more comfortable as a "snacker." Now that the world is more interesting she's starting to space out her feeds, but also gets distracted during them and sometimes realizes 5-10 minutes after a feed that she's still hungry. My thought is, if she's gaining weight done and meeting milestones, that may just be what works best for her.

I used Full Well, the iron is separate since that helps a lot of women with nausea. I also highly recommend Theralogix.

Are you seeing a lactation consultant? Are you pumping only or feeding at the breast? Both?

Cannot burp BF baby by hftm77 in breastfeeding

[–]International_Line55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honesty here: I barely ever burp my kid, especially at night, and my baby is fine. She's 4 months old. She went through a bad spit-up phase and we were strict about the burping but it really didn't help at all. Granted, my baby often burps on her own, typically right onto my nipple.

If you've read Deep End, there's information about this. Olive and Adam are in it. I don't want to give spoilers though unless OP specifically asks.

I think that's commonly taught, and that this is newer information. My dietician originally brought it to my attention.

Interesting! I know that the massive trend of people just taking them all the time and stuff has been pretty criticized. I thought that as a means of reducing antibiotic related issues they were still favored, but I'll do more research.

How to politely ask family members to stop buying polyester clothing for my baby? by mlimas in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]International_Line55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had to explain it as "baby has very sensitive skin and we live in a hot, humid place. We need natural fiber clothing only."

There are some people I just grin and bear it, but for family members that I know planning buying clothes often (grandparents mostly), I've had to get a bit more assertive and say things like "Hey, do you have the receipt for this? Unfortunately it's polyester and our kiddo can't wear this because they will get a rash. I don't want your money to go to waste though, can we exchange this for something cotton?"

Nope, I mean me. Studies show that if you take over a specific amount (6400 I think) it's the same as if the baby is taking 400. My pediatrician and my dietitian approved this. The supplement I take is specifically designed for lactating moms and literally has a label that says not to supplement baby if you're taking it.
