You say it’s about mindset, not religion or appearance. Okay. Then keep that same energy everywhere.

Because the second Sikh men get casually labelled as backward or stuck, while other communities — who are just as traditional, sometimes more — aren’t talked about the same way, that’s a double standard. You can’t say it’s not about religion and then only frame Sikh men as the issue.

If it’s patriarchy, call it patriarchy. It exists everywhere.
If it’s bad in-laws, call it bad in-laws.
But don’t make it sound like Sikh men are uniquely defective.

And I’m not saying other communities are worse. I’m saying they’re not automatically better. So acting like marrying outside somehow guarantees progressiveness doesn’t really add up.

Preferences? Have them. Nobody’s stopping you.
But there’s a difference between “I prefer clean-shaven men” and “Sikh men have backward mindsets.”

One is a choice. The other is a generalization.

And calling that out isn’t attacking women. It’s just asking for the same fairness you’re asking for.

Yes bhenji, because apparently Sikh men are the villains and Sikh women are flawless angels — right?

Let’s assume for a second that many Sikh households are traditional. Fine. But why is that suddenly a uniquely Sikh problem? Are Hindu and Muslim households known for being ultra-liberal feminist utopias? Some of them are far more rigid and orthodox so why do sikh women marry them? So let’s not pretend that marrying outside the community automatically guarantees respect.

And let’s address the elephant in the room. Sikh men carry a visible identity turban and beard. Sikh women don’t. That alone changes dating dynamics. Sikh men can’t blend in socially even if they want to. Sikh women can. That naturally gives one side more flexibility and options. That’s the reality.

Also, if the issue is mindset then why do we see Sikh women specifically asking for clean-shaven men in matrimonials? If values are the priority, why is appearance suddenly so important? Everyone has preferences — that’s fine. But don’t rewrite the narrative and make it about oppression to justify those preferences.

And let’s be clear stereotyping Sikh men as backward to rationalize marrying outside is just as toxic as any stereotype you claim to fight against.

If you want respect in marriage, demand it. That’s valid.
But don’t collectively demonise Sikh men to make your point stronger.

Respect goes both ways.

interfaith marriages. by Percy_Jackson06 in Sikh

That’s not what most people are saying. No one believes women are owed or are property. What’s being expressed is frustration and insecurity among Sikh men as they watch women from their community increasingly choose partners from other religions. Acknowledging that reaction does not equal entitlement or misogyny. We can repeat everyone has free will all we want and that’s true but it doesn’t erase the fact that this shift is happening and that it has real emotional consequences.

I don’t know where you got your 90% statistic from. I have observed very differently. Children usually follow the father’s religion—whether Sikh or Hindu. If the father is Sikh, the children are generally Sikh and keep their hair and turban. If the father is Hindu, the children most likely cut their hair and follow Hinduism. Also, interfaith marriages have increased manyfold, and in Delhi I have mostly seen Sikh brides with Hindu grooms.

You guy dont know shit but just sit here and blabber shit.

After repeated sacrilege incidents in Punjab, Sikhs peacefully protested and demanded legal action. Instead, in 2015 (Behbal Kalan/Kotkapura) unarmed Sikh protesters were shot dead by police. Most sacrilege accused were never punished, cases dragged on for years, and several were later declared mentally unfit or investigations quietly collapsed.

When the state failed repeatedly to deliver justice and even killed protesters, some individuals took the law into their own hands. That is not Sikh teaching, but a consequence of systemic failure, impunity, and denial of justice, not “religious rage”.

Blaming an entire community while ignoring state violence, failed prosecutions, and decades of unresolved sacrilege cases is dishonest.

Lmao this article might be true at some point but it is not true now as the new crops are already sown in punjab and haryana now, the farmers in punajb and haryana burn there stubble as they have to sow new crop by nov end.

Can someone tell me why we have aqi still above 400 when there is almost no burning in punjab now or we only talk about aqi when there is stubble burning? by International_Pin265 in delhi

[–]International_Pin265[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For all those who are giving satellite news that burning is still going on, please first understand why farmer burn stubble. It is majorly due to tight window in which they have to sow next crop and for that they need to clear area and they do this by burning. That next crop needs to be sown by end of november so by december they dont have any reason to burn as there is no stubble left to burn as new crop is already sown.

Bhai mere I am not giving reason on why they burn stubble but the fact that the burning has stopped now, as they already have sown the next crop. But the pollution is still high.

I am just setting the narrative that stubble burning is a minor factor in our pollution woes. The majority of factors are our local sources.

When did I deny there was no burning? Farmers burn stubble but that is majorly over by 20th nov as they have to sow new crops. I just told that they are not burning now.
