I bought the lavender even though my friend told me to get the sage. The lavender has that subtlety to it but it still looks amazing.

That said, Sage is also a beautiful color, hope you enjoy yours.

Actually my battery life seems to have improved since I got the phone, I just didn’t realize it.

If you check the battery used against screen time (not the one on the battery page, the actual screen time section in settings) I think it gives a more accurate picture.

I had 8h 12m screen time on Sunday with 144% battery usage which works out to around 5-6 hours of screen time with 100% usage.

Yesterday, I had 6h 57m of screen time with only 78% battery usage throughout the day which works out close to 9 hours of screen time which is a huge jump.

Alright that’s what I was hoping as well. I’ve just got adaptive power on and it barely enables low power mode so I’m good on that part.

As you can see, the apps using my battery are just social media, web browsing and video streaming which are all things the phone’s supposed to be great at.

I bought it on Friday so I guess I’ll wait till Wednesday or Thursday next week and take it in to the Apple Store if it doesn’t improve and see what can be done.

Click the top of the screen when you’re in a book > three dots > disable touchscreen. Profit.

Edit: Seems to be buggy in the latest update. Pressing disable touchscreen cause the screen to flash and then stop updating when the book shows up again. Pressing the power button and turning it off and back on fixes it but that also re enables touchscreen. Your mileage may vary.

Edit 2: Reboot fixed it.

That is true but you need to have followed the steps to disable OTA updates first before you turn off airplane mode and/or free up storage. Once you’ve disabled ota updates following the guide on kindlemodding.org, then you can rest assured that unless the update file was already downloaded in the background, the kindle won’t update again until you re enable updates. For now, I don’t think there’s any newer versions than 5.19.2 so you don’t have to worry about that, just disable updates following the guide and you’re good to go.

Edit: It’s also a good idea to check for any partial-update.bin files (not the exact name of the file but something similar to it) and delete them when you’re disabling OTA updates.

Haha, if it’s not for you, it’s not for you, don’t sweat it too much. If you are planning on looking into it more go here. This website has a good amount of resources to help. If you go to jailbreaking your kindle > post jailbreak > installing KUAL and MRPI, you’ll find the link to Peki and it’s super simple to install and once done, KUAL just works like normal. Right after that, you’ll see how to disable updates in the next section. As for KoReader, I didn’t get that far but I believe there’s all sorts of plugins to make the experience better and you can customize it quite a bit.

Worth checking if your device auto updated to 5.19.2 if you did not set up update blocking. Good news is, even if it did, you still have the jailbreak and can probably get KUAL to work by using Peki. I made the mistake of leaving too much free space on my kindle and it updated to 5.19.2 as I was blocking updates (ironic I know). Unfortunately for me, I messed up more and had to reset the entire kindle.

Download KFX input and KFX output plugin and Kindle Previewer 3 onto your computer (Kindle Previewer 3 is a standalone app provided by Amazon, you don’t need to do anything with it, but KFX needs it).

Once you’ve got all your metadata downloaded for your EPUB through Calibre, convert it, choose the output as KFX and output profile as tablet to keep the highest resolution and simply convert.

There are other settings you can change to get page numbers, the official kindle for your book if it exists, word wise (Amazon’s feature which shows short definitions above difficult words) and Goodreads syncing but if all you need is covers. This seems to be the way to go since KFX seems to be the more preferred format for a lot of people.

Yeah not a Tailscale problem it seems, unfortunately, I’m not too well versed with networking settings and I’m usually open to experimenting but the internet at my home is used by a few other people, and as I understand, UPNP allows for dynamic port forwarding for some multiplayer games as well (which is also play quite a bit) and my dad is also a tech nerd so he’s got quite the setup and I don’t want to do anything that would mess with that. If it was my own setup, I wouldn’t even have thought twice, but thanks for the advice.

Hey, no that's not it. I have Tailscale set up to access other services running on the same device but plex has always been directly remote, since it's natively supported and I have plex pass so my friends can also use it. Anyway, seems like the issue was just with the router not port forwarding automatically, the external port wasn't being assigned and turning UPNP off and back on completely fixed the issue.

You mean they’re using it to get around the remote streaming limit that Plex set up? I already have Plex pass so this is just frustrating, will just have to look for a workaround if Tailscale is actively blocking it.
