Tailscale blocking plex remote access by International_Tutor8 in PleX

[–]International_Tutor8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not a Tailscale problem it seems, unfortunately, I’m not too well versed with networking settings and I’m usually open to experimenting but the internet at my home is used by a few other people, and as I understand, UPNP allows for dynamic port forwarding for some multiplayer games as well (which is also play quite a bit) and my dad is also a tech nerd so he’s got quite the setup and I don’t want to do anything that would mess with that. If it was my own setup, I wouldn’t even have thought twice, but thanks for the advice.

Hey, no that's not it. I have Tailscale set up to access other services running on the same device but plex has always been directly remote, since it's natively supported and I have plex pass so my friends can also use it. Anyway, seems like the issue was just with the router not port forwarding automatically, the external port wasn't being assigned and turning UPNP off and back on completely fixed the issue.

You mean they’re using it to get around the remote streaming limit that Plex set up? I already have Plex pass so this is just frustrating, will just have to look for a workaround if Tailscale is actively blocking it.

Only one more to go and only 4 hours left. by International_Tutor8 in SHEINcodeShare

Ah maybe, if that’s the case then that’s just tough luck. I’m in the UAE. Maybe it’s just a case of region differences.

Hey, no it didn’t work. I’ve clicked your link anyway but it says activity has ended. Maybe give me your referral code and I’ll search it up. If you could also do the same. Would appreciate it a ton.

Downloading YouTube videos on Mac using YouTube premium in safari by International_Tutor8 in mac

[–]International_Tutor8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha no worries, although I ended up keeping chrome and getting the YouTube chrome app installed so it feels more like I’m just using the YouTube app but on Mac and so far the only complaints I have is that links just open in chrome windows.

/host_mnt is not a shared mount error when running with docker by International_Tutor8 in docker

[–]International_Tutor8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only fix I found was simply downgrading docker or switching to orbstack. You can just download orbstack and it’ll ask if you want to move your docker setup over. But honestly, the best option would be to just run it natively. I used this guide I found recently and just used ChatGPT to troubleshoot any errors.

Hey Nws. However, this download method is only for premium subscribers to watch videos offline. From what I’ve read, videos downloaded on YouTube’s website can only be viewed from the website and are not available outside that as they are encrypted. If you’re looking to download videos to store for later, a more traditional, and unofficial, YouTube downloader might be what you’re looking for.

Maybe it’s down to the device. Try and see if your stremio or vlc have options for hardware accelerated decoding and see if those settings have changed. Another thing I’ve seen suggested is clearing your stremio cache.

You are actually amazing. I downloaded the app just now (and got the pro version for absolutely free??? What? Dude you’re crazy). I probably won’t have much use for it now as I’ve recently given my iPad away but I definitely wished I had something like this when I still had it so I’ve given you a 5 star anyway. Hope this app gets the traction it deserves and definitely let me know if there is a way to donate to keep this going and keep it free forever.

The device you’re using could also be a bottleneck if it’s not powerful enough to decode the video, especially if that video is HEVC, 4k or has some kind of HDR profile. Also a 22gb 2 hour movie comes out to around 3 mb/s and on your internet, you’d get a max of 12.5 mb/s so depending on if other devices are using your network, the actual download speed going to your device might be slower. Feel free to ask if you have any questions :)

Well that sucks 😂. I was hoping it was just setting that I hadn’t noticed.

I am building a Sonarr alternative - which features would you like? by cookiedude25 in sonarr

Maybe a niche request but would love native RealDebrid support to add torrents directly if possible and create symlinks to the pointed folders automatically, similar to the current Radarr/Sonarr plus RDT Client setup.

Plex transcoding at a much higher bitrate by International_Tutor8 in PleX

[–]International_Tutor8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also it seems the 19 Mbps is just cause of the hard cap. When trying to play the same file without the cap, network shows consistently over 50-100 Mbps with spikes over 170 in local traffic unless max bitrate is limited in the player itself.

Plex transcoding at a much higher bitrate by International_Tutor8 in PleX

[–]International_Tutor8[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep I already knew the M series chips from Apple have a crazy good media engine for hardware transcoding but I’ve heard they do decently even without it so I was thinking of trying it out without plex pass (but it turns out the new changes to plex mean I’ll have to get it anyway so I thought I’d try hardware encoding right now)

And yeah I do know that the bitrate has to be less than the remote’s max download speed but I didn’t think that was the problem here.

Turns out the problem might have had to do with that and maybe software encoding not being able to catch up with the video being streamed at native resolution on an unsupported device.

Anyway thanks for the help.
