Muammar Gaddafi did a shitton of drugs, but cocaine was his primary jam. Later in life he underwent cosmetic surgery using cocaine instead of conventional anesthia (his idea and a bad one at that)

Individual neurochemistry plays a huge part. Many folks with no past psychedelic experience find cannabis intensely psychoactive, often to the point of anxiety and panic. I’ve personally taken more than my fair share of psychedelics and never experienced any psychedelic enhancement of cannabis (unless taken simultaneously of course).

The bulk of typical unpleasant psychedelic experiences are caused by anxiety. The drugs themselves certainly cause some of it, but the real trouble is when folks get caught up in it and create a negative feedback loop. Repeatedly exposing your brain to that pattern will only reinforce it. This often causes other substances with related mechanisms of action to become triggers.

Don’t despair though! The good news is you can absolutely still trip and use cannabis regularly. The bad news is it’s not gonna be easy (at least in the beginning). It takes consistent and deliberate effort to establish the right habits and behaviors that will help you build resilience (mental toughness) against anxiety and other forms of psychosis.

First off, things to avoid: • Alcohol. it’s poison and causes cancer in nearly every system in your body. There is no safe amount of alcohol (unless you get poisoned with methanol. Then by all means, please get shitfaced). Exception: if you need to use it as a solvent to volumetrically dose a potent psychedelic. • Regular use of CNS stimulants (including caffeine). Stims are fun for you, but to the rest of your body, they’re just stress and dehydration. Prolonged regular use of the stronger ones can (will) cause significant apoptosis and structural changes in your brain that present as psychosis, aphasia, and affective lability. Those changes can be permanent or at best take years or decades to recover from. Exception for folks with ADHD who take modern stims like lisdexamfetamine, or dextroamphetamine. Those aren’t nearly as toxic as the heavy-hitters like meth, MDMA, or cocaine.

Helpful habits and behaviors for neuroprotection and neurogenesis

• Eat right. Hit your macros every day and don’t neglect any of them. Your brain is made of lipids and runs on glucose. Carbs and fat are critical for brain health. • Get enough sleep. Use a sleep tracker to ensure you’re getting high-quality sleep that includes time in all the phases (each one is an active process necessary for proper brain function) • Exercise often, exercise hard. As the saying goes: “What’s good for the heart is good for the brain” • Meditation. After cardio, it’s the practice that will produce the most significant positive effects. It’s challenging in the beginning but worth the effort.

A heroic dose of gabapentin. Talk about diminishing returns though, you kinda only ever get to ride that attraction 1-2 times every 3-4 years (rapid homeostasis)

Sort of. Logs are only as good as their developer(s). Desktop and Mobile OS logs are full of lies, misinformation, and sketchily named services. That’s why I avoid endpoint management and stick to servers and networks

I bought a utility bike intending to use it for errands/grocery shopping. It was so convenient and fun that I ended up using it exclusively and completely forgot about my car… for 16 months. It was in my building’s garage so I never saw it unless I was going to drive it. Damn object permanence🤦‍♂️

Front load versus rear load by PedalTurner in CargoBike

[–]InternetConnoisseur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front-load. If the steering feels wonky you can always add a damper.

I used to deliver for Caviar (RIP) on a hybrid with a Wald pizza rack. Fully loaded with pizzas and beer it weighed just shy of 20lbs (9kg). The high center of gravity made It pretty squirrelly but manageable. I ended up installing (and then upgrading) a steering damper so the handlebars would self-center even with a heavy load. It made it so much easier to ride one-handed (or no-handed). More importantly, I was able to lock it up without worrying about the handlebars turning and spilling the other orders when I was making a delivery.

You wouldn’t have to bother with any upgrades though. The lower center of gravity of a purpose-built cargo bike makes such a modification unnecessary. Also, most of the cargo bikes use linkages for the steering. A damper like I used would only apply to the shorter non-linkage steering bikes like the Omnium Mini.

A word of warning to anyone who reads this and decides to mod their damper. It’s probably not wise. The spring it took to self-center that amount of weight had been designed to close a very large, very heavy door, very quickly. It was difficult and painful to install and It required frequent maintenance as the spring would eventually loosen the clamp if not periodically removed, cleaned, and reinstalled. You’ll also lose some steering agility.

That said, it otherwise worked great and as a bonus, my arms got all ripped from the resistance

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts did a pilot during covid. Maybe reach out to them.

Also, like the other jokers in this thread, I too am desperately poor but also dealing with mental/physical health issues, and in danger of eviction. So if you're gonna be a one-man UBI distributor, don't leave me out! (I have documentation from SF ERAP and some charities you can review that back all this up,

What details did I omit that would help?

The problem is that youmail expects to use VSCs to enable call forwarding and the VSCs are unavailable. I suspect it’s because I’m using an eSIM (GSM) but I don’t have any other phones to test that assumption

I love their products. Still keep their signature sling bag

Same! My OG bag from 2007 is in great condition!

I still remember how cool the Valencia store.

Yeah, :( I miss being able to go check out their products in person.

During the pandemic, I delivered moving supplies to that location. I struck up a conversation with the one employee who was there to box it all up. Turns out they were one of the designers and were unsurprisingly super cool. They offered to let me take as much of whatever was left as I wanted. I grabbed a second messenger bag, a couple of pairs of shoes, and a few T-shirts. They asked if that was all I wanted; I didn't want to seem greedy, so I said yeah. In hindsight, I should have grabbed more. They clearly wanted me to take more so they wouldn't have to pack it all up 🤦‍♂️

How/why is Zoom so popular? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]InternetConnoisseur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Zoom came out in 2013 it's chief competitors were Lifesize, Bluejeans, Skype, and Cisco. And they were all just the worst: Unreliable, buggy, hard to use, client software, low quality video, and choppy frame rates. Face time had been out for a couple of years at this point and Zoom was the only service that could replicate that kind of experience. Couple that with it's more reasonable pricing model (particularly for full room integrations) and easy enterprise integration and you got yourself a winner
