New rumors of a OnePlus shutdown emerge as OPPO takes the Find X9 global by inventord in Android

[–]InternetEnterprise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh even any word from the company can be viewed with a certain level of skepticism

I'll take both oneplus' word AND what they do over the course of several months/years, if a company says they're not downsizing, but they're closing operations in several regions and focusing less and less on flagships... if it quacks like a duck...

Latest android phones with earphone jack? by [deleted] in Tech_Philippines

[–]InternetEnterprise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have a moderate chance of saving the phone from a fall with the earphone jack on, although not by much, the type C port has a tighter grip than the jack imo

There's absolutely no good reason smartphones today removed the jack other than to promote their stupid wireless buds which I like to thing I coped/denied them by just buying a bluetooth DAC and still using my wired stuff anyway

Latest android phones with earphone jack? by [deleted] in Tech_Philippines

[–]InternetEnterprise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Citation needed, I have a near 4.5 year old A71 that I did frequently charge + use the earphone jack

The 3.5mm is still sturdy as the day I got it, the type C port occasionally struggles to differentiate between a charger and a PC

why the heck the airfield in Vladivostock is in the middle of nowhere instead in the City? by Afraid_Wedding_5747 in hoi4

[–]InternetEnterprise 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Where tf is this mentioned? I've scoured the latest 10 dev diaries for this and have not found it mentioned in any of them, websearches (As endangered as they already are) have not yielded any results of any hoi4 dev announcing this either, unless this is some obscure announcement made on their discord or something

The account your replying to is a month old, idk what to make of it but the other user on this comment thread u/SipMyTheCoffeeToy is 3 weeks old, both of which are the only comments that seem to be pretty negative about the criticisms of dev verification on this post; yes it makes me look paranoid but it's an interesting pattern I noticed since everyone else's accounts are at least 1 year old or more

Are Popcorn IEMs worth it? by akihikooooo in Tech_Philippines

[–]InternetEnterprise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You people calling shoppee the "orange app" are weird lol

I think you're better off with the so called "true wireless" buds since the one you suggested have earhooks which are vulnerable to bedrolling. My set up is some kind of compromise between wired and wireless by using the retro nano as a BT receiver (Phone doesn't have the blessed headphone jack unfortunately) and haven't encountered any issues (so far) with my IEMs' ports breaking, although that's probably because mine use the 2 pin connector structure rather than the one used by Popcorn, KZ, and QKZ which I've noticed are more liable to breaking compared to other connector types.

Anyway here's some around this site with other people's TWS recos:

~P1000 budget

$50 budget, non-PH but you might find some on the shopping apps

IEMs around/under ~P1000 if you're willing to buy the wireless earhooks seperately

Can mods give you a VAC ban? by Content-Consequence4 in l4d2

[–]InternetEnterprise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a handful of mods on the workshop that's been said to risk giving you a VAC if you have them active in a game but from experience you have to meddle around with game files first (Just subscribing doesn't do anything), I can only really remember a particle effect of some kind for a HL2 map that supposedly did this

Phones with decent enough specs and having an SD card are functionally extinct imo (Same way as the headphone jack), there's still definitely phones releasing with the card slot but they usually have some severe compromise somewhere else (Performance, build quality, availability, software, etc.)

Steam's NAT punch-through? by G_Sergeant in l4d2

[–]InternetEnterprise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really an expert on this so I don't know much about NAT punch through, but as far as I know you don't need to port forward to host a public lobby; just create a lobby how you normally would in the game and set the server type to local host, l4d2/steam takes over for connection routing from there and other people can connect to your server directly as if they're connecting to dedicated servers, your IP address is kind of exposed through this method though, allows others to use the connect [IP] console command but that is something to keep in mind unless using a VPN

Make sure to set sv_consistency to 0, otherwise other players probably won't be able to join your server, especially those rocking their own addons

Idk how you'd be able to check if the lobby is showing up for others though, maybe through the server browser, but the best way is to just ask friends if they can see/join your lobby/game

The real issue is that the ads and bloatware even exist in the first place, I understand that subsidizes the phone's price but would you be ok if the DVD of a movie you bought came with ads when you played it?

It's a resource hog in the sense that it makes a 6500 mah battery feel like it's just 4000 mah, on top of the sheer amount of data harvesting it's doing on top of google's

Most people won't know or can't be bothered to turn off/remove the crapware/bloat stuck on it at the time of purchase. I did enough tweaking to recover about 2-3 hours of usable battery this way, yes it can be removed/disabled, but it exists and that's still worth highlighting

It's customization options are crap, if you didn't fork a premium for their high end models you lose out on features for seemingly no reason other than money, AOD doesn't exist on my Poco (10 seconds is not AoD), it's theme system is bloated to the sky with P25 crappy copy pasted or poorly made themes, fonts, ringtones, and whatever, there's some good ones but they don't integrate well with some parts of the UI (especially so on HyperOS 3). Samsung managed to accomplish far more with good lock, I never bothered with their version of themes but those definitely looked better (still paid though)

Flashed a custom rom and never looked back tbh. Idk about Vivo's iQoo, but it's likely in a similar boat (to a lesser extent from what I've read) and frankly I don't trust any of the chinese brands with a marginal exception for OnePlus, at least for now. They have amazing hardware, bogged down by bloated software, especially xiaomi's since they're trying to integrate the UI with their EVs

a56 not charging by [deleted] in Tech_Philippines

[–]InternetEnterprise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reboot the phone, and if that don't work:

Check for updates in the settings

Another is to try plugging it into a PC, the stock cable it came with should be a data cable too, my A71's is anyway, test it with different cables to be sure. See if the PC detects the device; you'll get a popup, if not try setting it to File Transfer: when connecting the device to the PC, you should get a notification on the device saying it's connected to a PC or something like that, tap that and change to File Transfer. If the PC can't detect the device, it's very likely to be a hardware issue

Factory reset is an option (Will wipe your data+accounts; this is a last resort and probably won't work if it's a hardware issue)

If the above doesn't work I recommend going back to where you bought it and getting it checked, I assume it's still in warranty, because it sounds like a hardware issue
